The 2015 Island Games in Jersey was the fourteenth edition in which an association football tournament was played at the multi-games competition. [1]
The XVI Island Games was held in Jersey, Channel Islands, from 27 June to 3 July 2015. This was the second time that the island has hosted the games, the first being in 1997.
Jersey, officially the Bailiwick of Jersey, is a Crown dependency located near the coast of Normandy, France. It is the second closest of the Channel Islands to France, after Alderney.
Football has been a regular event since 1989 at the Island Games, the biennial multi-sports event for island nations, territories and dependencies. A 5-a-side competition for under-16s was held at the inaugural event on the Isle of Man, and the success this minor competition brought to the games meant senior men's football was included on the itinerary for the first time in the Faroe Islands, in 1989. Women's football was included on the games' schedule for the first time in 2001.
The tournament involved 11 teams, [2] the most women's football teams in the games' history.
The Jersey official football team represents the British Crown Dependency of Jersey in non-FIFA international matches.
The Guernsey official football team is the official football team representing the island of Guernsey in non-FIFA international football matches. It is not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA, and therefore cannot compete for the FIFA World Cup or UEFA European Football Championship.
The Ynys Môn football team represents the island of Anglesey at the biannual Island Games. Ynys Môn is not a member of FIFA or UEFA, it is an island county within Wales and plays under the auspices of the Football Association of Wales, the governing body for football in Wales.

The 2015 Island Games in Jersey was the fourteenth edition in which an association football tournament was played at the multi-games competition.
Football at the 2015 Island Games took place from 28 June – 3 July 2015 in Jersey. Matches were played at Springfield Stadium.
Douglas and District F.C. are a football club from Douglas on the Isle of Man. They compete in the Isle of Man Football League. They play their home games at Noble's Park in Douglas.
The Island Games are an international multi-sports event organised by the International Island Games Association (IIGA). Competitor teams each represent different island communities which are IIGA members. Currently all competitor teams represent non-sovereign territories of European nations - some within European waters and some further overseas.
FIFA is the international governing body of association football, charged with overseeing football globally and with running international representative matches. However, some international football takes place outside its ratification. This often consists of matches involving sub-national entities such as islands, colonies or autonomous regions. Representative matches also occur involving states with limited international recognition who are unable to qualify for FIFA membership. The Western Isles representative team is the representative football team for the Western Isles, Scotland. They are not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA. Most players selected either play in the Lewis and Harris Football League or the Uist & Barra Football League. The team has participated in several Island Games tournaments since 2005.
The 1997 Island Games on the island of Jersey was the 5th edition in which a men's football (soccer) tournament was played at the multi-games competition. It was contested by 9 teams.
The Uhrencup is a club football tournament, held annually in Grenchen and Biel in Switzerland. The Uhrencup is seen as a testament to the major influence that is exercised by the local industry on the cultural lives of the areas residents. The tournament usually features four teams, each playing two matches, and is held in July as a friendly tournament, the format of which tends to be fluid. For the teams taking part, the tournament is a welcome opportunity to prepare for the upcoming football season.

The 2016 OFC Nations Cup was the 10th edition of the OFC Nations Cup, the quadrennial international men's football championship of Oceania organised by the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC). The tournament was played between 28 May and 11 June 2016 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The winner qualified for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
St. John F.C. is a football club based in Jersey in the Channel Islands. They are affiliated to the Jersey Football Association and play in the Jersey Football Combination Championship. Their ground hosted matches during the 2015 Island Games, including a match between Jersey and The Isle of Man which attracted 1,800 fans.
The 2015 ConIFA European Football Cup was the first edition of the ConIFA European Football Cup, an international football tournament for states, minorities, stateless peoples and regions unaffiliated with FIFA organised by CONIFA. The tournament was originally planned to be hosted by Ellan Vannin on the Isle of Man; this expanded to then see the group games and placement rounds held in South East England, while the semi-finals, third-place play-off and final would take place in Douglas. However, in March 2015, at the draw for the tournament, it was announced that the tournament would no longer be held in the Isle of Man, instead moving to be hosted by new entrant Székely Land in Hungary. In 2015, ConIFA announced that the tournament would serve as part of the qualification process for the 2016 ConIFA World Football Cup, with the top three teams qualifying automatically.
The 2015 USL Premier Development League season was the 21st season of the PDL and consisted of 63 teams. The regular season began on May 2 and ended on July 19. The Michigan Bucks were the defending champions and posted the best overall record in the League; however, they were defeated by K-W United FC in the Central Conference finals. K-W United went on to win the league championship by defeating the Seattle Sounders FC U-23 1-0 in the semi-finals and in high scoring final they overcame the New York Red Bulls U-23 4-3. 63 clubs competed in the semi-professional soccer leagues.

The men's football tournament was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea between 3–17 July 2015 as part of the 2015 Pacific Games. The tournament was age-restricted and open to men's under-23 national teams only.
The Panjab Football Team is a representative football team formed in 2014 in the United Kingdom to represent the Punjabi diaspora. Initially, this will cover the Punjabi community in the UK, before expanding further afield. The team is governed by the Panjab Football Association, not to be confused with the Punjab Football Association, which is the state governing body of football in the Punjab region of India.
The Gibraltar women's national football team represents the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar in international women's association football. Although the Gibraltar Football Association is a member of UEFA and FIFA, the association is yet to field a women's team in FIFA Women's World Cup or UEFA Women's Championship qualification. Instead, the team has largely been restricted to appearances at the biennial Island Games football tournaments, first appearing in the 2015 edition.
