Working Wonders Children's Museum was a small children's museum in the downtown Old Mill District of Bend, Oregon, United States.

The museum closed on October 3, 2009, due to the poor economic conditions in Central Oregon which caused difficulty in fundraising efforts for the museum.[ citation needed ]

Warm Springs is a census-designated place (CDP) and an unincorporated community in Jefferson County, Oregon, United States. Located on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, the community is also known as the "Warm Springs Agency". The population was 2,945 at the 2010 census, up from 2,431 at the 2000 census.

Agency Plains is a plateau just north of the city of Madras, Oregon, United States. It extends approximately 10 miles (16 km) north to south and 5 miles (8.0 km) east to west some 250 feet (76 m) in elevation above the east side of the Deschutes River. The area is composed of arable land and was the homestead area of the Gard, Campbell, and Ramsey families. A variety of seed crops are raised on the farmland, and before irrigation came to the area it was covered in dryland wheat. The area is roughly bisected by U.S. Route 26.

John Minto IV was an American pioneer born in Wylam, England. He was a prominent sheep farmer in the U.S. state of Oregon and a four-time Republican representative in the state legislature. Minto also volunteered for the militia during the Cayuse War and years later helped locate Minto and Santiam passes through the Cascade Mountains east of Salem, Oregon.
Alfalfa is a rural unincorporated community in Deschutes County, Oregon, United States, in the high desert 16 miles (26 km) east of Bend. Alfalfa was named for the primary forage crop grown there under irrigation. There is a store with gas pumps and a church as the only businesses or services; Alfalfa had a post office from 1912 until 1922. The community serves a population of about 400 families living in the surrounding farms.
Camp Polk was a former army camp in the U.S. state of Oregon that was established in Deschutes County in 1865. It was a post of the District of Oregon. One of nine camps created during a time of conflict between settlers and Native Americans, it was located three miles northeast of the present-day city of Sisters. The camp was intended to house troops who would protect settlers on the Santiam Wagon Road from Indian attack. Part of Company A, a group of volunteer soldiers from the Willamette Valley under the command of Captain Charles La Follette, were stationed at the post. The camp was named for Polk County, which was the home of most of the soldiers and their captain. No attacks occurred, and the troops received orders before winter in 1865 to leave the camp. A portion of the troops remained at the post until the spring of 1866 when Camp Polk was abandoned.
The Deschutes Historical Museum is a museum of local history that is located in the historic Reid School in Bend, Oregon. Opened in 1980 and operated by the Deschutes County Historical Society, the museum's exhibits focus on the area's prehistory, Native American tribes, explorers, pioneers, the logging industry, transportation, and the United States Forest Service. Historic items and antiques are displayed to show home and school life in different periods.

The district manages more than 700 miles (1,100 km) of canals serving about 70.3 square miles (182 km2) of lands within a rough area of 280 square miles (730 km2).
