Wrestling at the Olympic Games first appeared at the first modern Olympics, in the form of Greco-Roman wrestling, held in Athens in 1896. Wrestling would appear at every Summer Olympics held since then, with the exception of the 1900 Summer Olympics when wrestling did not appear on the program. Freestyle wrestling and weight classes both made their first appearance at the 1904 Summer Olympics. Women's freestyle wrestling competition was first held at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
Armen Nazaryan is an Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler who later represented Bulgaria. Nazaryan is a two-time Olympic Champion, a three-time World Champion, and a six-time European Champion. After Armenia regained independence in 1991, Nazaryan became the first Olympic gold medalist for the country. He was recognized by the FILA as the best wrestler of the year in 1998 and 2003. In 2007, Nazaryan was inducted as a member of the FILA Hall of Fame.

Amir Hossein Zare is an Iranian freestyle wrestler who currently competes in the heavyweight division. Zare became World Champion in 2021, and 2023. He was the 2019 U23 World Champion at age 18. He claimed a Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medal in 2021. In the age-group, he was the 2018 Cadet World Champion and claimed silver medals from the 2019 Junior World Championships and the 2018 Youth Summer Olympics.
Alex Michel Bjurberg Kessidis is a Swedish Greco-Roman wrestler. He is a silver medalist at the 2019 World Wrestling Championships and a bronze medalist at the 2020 European Wrestling Championships and the 2019 European Games. He represented Sweden at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Edmond Armen Nazaryan is a Bulgarian Greco-Roman wrestler of Armenian descent. He won the silver medal in the 60 kg event at the 2022 World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia. Edmond is also a four-time medalist, including two gold medals, at the European Wrestling Championships.
Karapet Chalyan is an Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler. He is a silver medalist at the European Games and a two-time bronze medalist at the European Wrestling Championships. He also represented Armenia at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan.

He won the gold medal in the 97 kg event at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships held in Oslo, Norway. He also won one of the bronze medals in the 97 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. In 2020, he won the gold medal in his event at the Asian Wrestling Championships held in New Delhi, India.He also won one of the Gold medals in the 97 kg event at the 2024 Summer Olympics held in Paris, France.
The wrestling competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are scheduled to run from 5 to 11 August at Grand Palais Éphémère in Champ de Mars. 288 wrestlers are expected to compete across 18 weight categories at these Games. The men will wrestle against each other in both freestyle and Greco-Roman events, whereas the women will only participate in the freestyle wrestling, with 18 gold medals awarded. Wrestling has been contested at every modern Summer Olympic Games, except Paris 1900.
