Wyre Forest Swimming Club (WFSC) is a volunteer led Competitive Swimming Club and a Registered Charity (Reg No 1128317) based in the north of the county or Worcestershire. It serves three main centres of population Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley. It formed in 1998 when Stourport and Kidderminster Swimming Clubs merged.
This rural club has a fine history of "punching above its weight" producing no less than two Olympic Swimmers in Amy Smith and Claire Cashmore (Paralympian). The club also has a history of supporting disability swimming most notably in recent years through Steve Boyce (Downs Syndrome European Silver Medallist 100m Freestyle). WFSC pride themselves in not only providing a channel for teaching swimming and coaching competitive swimming but also in providing a warm "family environment" where parents, swimmers and coaches mix freely whilst maintaining a professional approach to coaching and training. The Club is SwimMark accredited and is run on a day-to-day basis by part-time volunteers who serve on the club committee who meet once a month.
The club offers swimming lessons following the Swim England National Plan for teaching swimming where children are taught by enthusiastic Swim England qualified teachers, followed by a progressive scheme of competitive squads from Academy through to Gold, supporting, encouraging and developing swimmers from beginners to National level.
WFSC is led by Head Coach, Brian McGuinness, supported by a team of coaches. Brian McGuinness has a wealth of experience in sport. An ASA Level 4 Coach with international experience with GB, England & Scotland Squads & Teams. He has worked with swimmers at all levels of the sport including Olympians, Commonwealth games representatives, National record holders and title winners at Senior, Junior, Youth and Age Group levels as well as being selected for National Teams & Squads himself. Brian is also very active within the sport as a whole and is also the Executive Director of the British Swimming Coaches Association (BSCA). He has also tutored, mentored and assessed coaches within the ASA (now Swim England) Coach Education process and was an advisor upon the current programme.
Sir Walter Winterbottom was the first manager of the England football team (1946–1962) and FA Director of Coaching. He resigned from the FA in 1962 to become General Secretary of the Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR) and was appointed as the first Director of the Sports Council in 1965. He was knighted for his services to sport in 1978 when he retired. The Football Association marked the 100th anniversary of Winterbottom's birth by commissioning a bust which was unveiled by Roy Hodgson at St Georges Park on 23 April 2013 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of English football.
Sharron Elizabeth Davies, is an English former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympics and European championships, and competed for England in the Commonwealth Games. She won a silver medal in the 400-metre individual medley at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, and two gold medals at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton. Since retiring from the sport, she has worked as a television presenter and served as a patron of charities for disabled children and fitness. She was also a contestant on Dancing on Ice 2010.

British Swimming is a federation of the national governing bodies of England, Scotland, and Wales. These three are collectively known as the Home Country National Governing Bodies.
Ronald Brian Jacks was a Canadian Olympic and international swimmer in the 1960s and 1970s. He is currently a leading coach for Canadian swimmers such as Richard Weinberger through the Pacific Coast Swimming Club.

Swimming Australia is the peak governing body for competitive swimming in Australia. The body has approximately 100,000 registered members nationally in 1100 clubs across the country, which includes swimmers, coaches, officials, administrators and volunteers. The body oversees the management and development of the sport from the national team at the elite level, the conduct of national and international events, through to grass roots participation. Kevin Thomas Boyd is an English former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympics and World University Games, and England in the Commonwealth Games, during the 1980s. He competed internationally in freestyle swimming events.
Portsmouth Northsea swimming club (PNSC) was founded in 1927. It began when a group of swimmers met in the ‘Northsea Arms’ at Stamshaw and decided to form a Swimming Club, which they called Northsea SC. The name was then altered to PORTSMOUTH NORTHSEA SWIMMING CLUB some years later.
Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club is a swimming club based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom and was established in 1913. Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club (HHSC) ranks as one of Hertfordshire's premier clubs. The Club has about 200 members from age 5 to Masters Level and their swimmers compete regularly in a wide range of competitions.
Aquademics was a Michigan nonprofit organization established in 1990 to increase the number and presence of African American children in competitive water sports. In addition to sponsoring a competitive swimming team, Aquademics operated an academic support program. Based in Ann Arbor, Aquademics programs were open to all youth of color children, ages seven to sixteen, living in Washtenaw County. In operation throughout the 1990s, Aquademics formally disbanded at the turn of the 21st century.
Santa Clara Aquamaids is a synchronised swimming team located in Santa Clara, California. The ages of the athletes stretch from age six to twenty six. Their mission is to "To champion the pursuit of excellence in the international sport of synchronized swimming." The club, a non-profit, member supported team creates nationally ranked synchronized swimmers of all ages. The Aquamaids have produced over 60% of all Olympic Synchronized Swimmers representing the United States since the sport became an Olympic event in 1984.
Jack Irwin Hale was an English competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympic Games and England in the British Empire Games.
Matthew Anthony "Matt" Haanappel, is an Australian Paralympic swimmer. He was born in 1994 in Wantirna, Victoria and resides in the far eastern suburbs of Melbourne. He has cerebral palsy right hemiplegia. Haanappel has represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, the 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships, the 2014 Pan Pacific Para Swimming Championships, the 2016 Summer Paralympics, and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He represents the Camberwell Grammar School Aquatic club.
Craig Alexander Gibbons is an English competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. There, Gibbons anchored the British men's team in the preliminary heats of the 4x100-metre freestyle relay event. Gibbons previously held the British record for the men's 100-metre freestyle and was part of four relay teams that also broke British records. He has competed at major meets for over 10 years and remains one of the fastest British swimmers ever.
