Xiangqi, commonly known as Chinese chess or elephant chess, is a strategy board game for two players. It is the most popular board game in China. Xiangqi is in the same family of games as shogi, janggi, Western chess, chaturanga, and Indian chess. Besides China and areas with significant ethnic Chinese communities, this game is also a popular pastime in Vietnam, where it is known as cờ tướng, literally 'General's chess', in contrast with Western chess or cờ vua, literally 'King's chess'.
The Chinese Football Association (CFA) is the governing body for association football, beach soccer and futsal in the People's Republic of China. The CFA organizes the men's and women's national teams and administers the country's professional leagues as well as organizing the national knockout cup competition Chinese FA Cup. As members of East Asian Football Federation its national teams are eligible for the East Asian Football Championship and the country's membership in AFC allows teams to participate in that organizations club and national team competitions. China is also a member of FIFA and is therefore eligible to play in the World Cup.

Wu Jingyu is a female Chinese Taekwondo practitioner who won gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics in the –49 kg class. She also won several medals at world championships and Asian Games.
Pang Wei is a Chinese Olympic sport shooter. He won a gold medal in the 10 metre air pistol at the 2008 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal in the same event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He also won the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships in the same event, at the age of 20.

The Badminton tournament at the 1993 East Asian Games was held at Shanghai, China from 9 to 18 May. It was the first time badminton was included in the East Asian Games competition. Competitions for five individual disciplines as well as for teams were conducted. In individual competition, China dominated by winning four out of five gold medals while South Korea won a single gold in the women's doubles discipline. In team competition, Chinese team secured both the Gold medals in the men's and women's events.
