Wanzhou District is Chongqing's second most populated urban core area on the upper reaches of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River in China. It is currently governed as a district of Chongqing Municipality, bordering Sichuan to the northwest and Hubei to the southeast. It was formerly known as Wanxian or Wan County. Prior to Chongqing's formation as a direct-controlled municipality, Wanzhou was part of Sichuan province. The urban core of Wanzhou is 228 km (142 mi) away from Chongqing's city proper.
Danyang is a county-level city located on the southwest (right) bank of the Yangtze River, and is under the administration of Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province, China. It is noted for the production of optical lenses used in sunglasses and eyeglasses. Danyang has a total area of 1,059 km2 (409 sq mi) and a population of roughly 890,000. Danyang locals speak a dialect of Wu Chinese, and the city is on the linguistic borderline between Wu Chinese and Jianghuai Mandarin.

Yunyang District, formerly Yun County or Yunxian, is a district of Shiyan City in northwestern Hubei province, China. It borders the provinces of Henan and Shaanxi.
Chaling County is a county in Hunan Province, China; it is under the administration of Zhuzhou City. Located on the south eastern margin of the province, the county is bordered to the north by You County, to the east by Anren County, to the south by Yanling County, to the east by Lianhua, Yongxin Counties and Jinggangshan City of Jiangxi. The Yunyang Yangtze River Bridge is an asymmetric cable-stayed bridge across the Yangtze River in Yunyang County, Chongqing, China. Completed in 2005, the bridge has a total length of 1,278 metres (4,193 ft) including approaches on either bank. The main bridge is 637 metres (2,090 ft) long, with the longest span of 318 metres (1,043 ft). The bridge sits 104 metres (341 ft) above the river. The asymmetric design of the bridge is different from most cable-stayed bridges. The southern tower is 26 metres (85 ft) higher than the northern tower.

Sanxiasaurus is a genus of neornithischian dinosaur from the Middle Jurassic Xintiangou Formation in the Chongqing Municipality of China. The type and only species is S. modaoxiensis. The holotype is partial postcranial skeleton consisting of "55 bones including two cervical vertebrae, 11 dorsal vertebrae, 4 sacral vertebrae, 18 caudal vertebrae, both humeri, radii and ulnas, partial right ilium, partial right ischium, both femora and tibiae, left fibula, 3 metatarsi and 4 phalanges." In a phylogenetic analysis, it was found to be a basal neornithischian, more derived than Lesothosaurus and less derived than Hexinlusaurus.
