Wimbledon Championships Tennis tournament held in London

The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts, with retractable roofs over the two main courts since 2019.

The Grand Slam in tennis is the achievement of winning all four major championships in one discipline in the same calendar year, also referred to as the "Calendar-year Grand Slam" or "Calendar Slam". In doubles, a team may accomplish the Grand Slam playing together or a player may achieve it with different partners. Winning all four major championships consecutively but not within the same calendar year is referred to as a "non-calendar-year Grand Slam", while winning the four majors at any point during the course of a career is known as a "Career Grand Slam".

Stan Smith defeated Ilie Năstase in the final, 4–6, 6–3, 6–3, 4–6, 7–5 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1972 Wimbledon Championships. It was his only Wimbledon singles title, and his second and final major singles title.

Jan Kodeš defeated Alex Metreveli in the final, 6–1, 9–8(7–5), 6–3 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1973 Wimbledon Championships. The final included a tie-break played at 8–8 in the second set; it was the first ever Wimbledon singles final to include a tie-break.

The 1924 Wimbledon Championships took place on the outdoor grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London, United Kingdom. The tournament ran from 23 June until 5 July. It was the 44th staging of the Wimbledon Championships, and the second Grand Slam tennis event of 1924.

Rafael Nadal defeated the five-time defending champion Roger Federer in the final, 6–4, 6–4, 6–7(5–7), 6–7(8–10), 9–7 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 2008 Wimbledon Championships. It was his fifth major title, and his first outside of the French Open. It was also the first time Federer lost a major final outside the French Open. It would be Federer's only loss at Wimbledon between 2003 and 2009. The final marked the third of three consecutive Wimbledon finals contested by Federer and Nadal, with Federer emerging victorious in the two prior encounters. It was the second-longest championship match in Wimbledon history with play lasting 4 hours and 48 minutes, and with two rain delays. The event stretched over seven hours ending just before nightfall, and is considered by many to be the greatest match in tennis history.

Roger Federer defeated Andy Murray in the final, 4–6, 7–5, 6–3, 6–4, to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships. It was his seventh Wimbledon title and seventeenth Grand Slam title. With the win, Federer also regained the world No. 1 ranking. Federer thus equalled both William Renshaw and Pete Sampras' record of seven Wimbledon titles, as well as Sampras' record of 286 weeks as world No. 1; Federer broke the latter record on 16 July 2012.

The 2014 Wimbledon Championships was a tennis tournament played on grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London in the United Kingdom. Three-time defending champion Novak Djokovic defeated Nick Kyrgios in the final, 4–6, 6–3, 6–4, 7–6(7–3) to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 2022 Wimbledon championships. It was his seventh Wimbledon title and 21st major singles title overall. Djokovic became the fifth man in the Open Era to record a streak of at least four consecutive titles at one major. By reaching his 32nd men's singles major final, he surpassed the all-time record he had jointly held with Roger Federer. Djokovic also became the first player to win 80 matches at all four majors with his first-round win over Kwon Soon-woo. Because no ranking points were awarded for the tournament in response to its banning Russian and Belarusian players, Djokovic dropped out of the top five in ATP rankings after the tournament.
