The Primera División or División de Honor of the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Sala, is the premier professional futsal league in Spain. It was founded in 1989 with the name of División de Honor. The Liga Nacional de Fútbol Sala league, which is played under UEFA rules, currently consists of 16 teams, including teams like El Pozo Murcia, Inter Movistar, FC Barcelona, Marfil Santa Coloma, Santiago, Azkar Lugo or Xota Navarra.

The Italian Football Sala Federation, also known by the acronym of FIFS, is the Italian sports federation that promotes in Italy the Football Sala, indoor soccer or futsal, played with the Rules of the Asociación Mundial de Futsal (AMF). He also organized the Topolino Trophy five times, in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company Italia, as well as the Mediterranean Cup and the Mundialito Cup. It is based in Milan and the current President is Axel Paderni, in office since July 2009. It is the only Italian sports federation recognized by the Asociación Mundial de Futsal (AMF) and, therefore, the only one authorized to use international trademarks and logos.

The 2014 Copa de España de Fútbol Sala was the 25th staging of the Copa de España de Fútbol Sala. It took place in Logroño, La Rioja between 13 and 16 March. The matches were played at Palacio de los Deportes de La Rioja for up to 4,500 seats. The tournament was hosted by La Rioja regional government, Logroño municipality and LNFS. This was the second time that Logroño hosted Copa de España after the 2012 edition.
