The 2016 FIRS Women's Roller Hockey World Cup or Iquique 2016 was the 13th edition of the women's roller hockey world cup. It is held in Iquique, Chile from September 24 to October 1, 2016, and it was contested by thirteen teams. Spain defeated Portugal in the final to win the World Cup.

The match between Italy and Colombia ended in a 1–1 tie, giving both teams 1 point. However, as Italy won on the shootout, they are awarded an advantage against Colombia for tie-breaker purposes.

The World Skate Roller Hockey World Cup is the international championship for roller hockey organized by World Skate. The first event was held in 1936, in the city of Stuttgart. Since 1989, the World Championship tournament is held every two years on the odd years. Until 2017, it was organized by the Fédération Internationale de Roller Sports. As of 2019, following the merge between the FIRS and the International Skateboarding Federation, the World Cup is now an event of the larger World Roller Games.

The Women's Roller Hockey World Cup is a competition between the best female national teams in the World. It takes place every two years and it was organized by the FIRS until its integration into World Skate.

Roller hockey was one of three demonstration sports included in the official Olympic programme of the 1992 Summer Olympics, held in Barcelona. This sport's widespread popularity and the existence of top-level competitive teams in Catalonia prompted the Organizing Committee to suggest its inclusion in the Olympic programme.

The 2010–11 UEFA Europa League was the second season of the UEFA Europa League, Europe's secondary club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the 40th edition overall including its predecessor, the UEFA Cup. It began on 1 July 2010, with the first qualifying round matches, and concluded on 18 May 2011, with the final at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, between Porto and first-time finalists Braga. This was the first all-Portuguese final of a European competition and only the third time that two Portuguese teams faced each other in Europe, following Braga's elimination of Benfica in the semi-finals. Porto defeated Braga 1–0, with a goal from the competition's top goalscorer Radamel Falcao, and won their second title in the competition, after victory in the 2002–03 UEFA Cup. The 2010 FIRS Men's Inline Hockey World Championships was the 16th FIRS Men's Inline Hockey World Championships, an annual international inline hockey tournament organised by the International Roller Sports Federation. It took place between 12 and 17 July 2010 in Beroun, Czech Republic. The United States team was the defending champion, having won the previous two championships.

The Inline Hockey World Championship is an annual inline hockey tournament organized by World Skate. Prior to the creation of World Skate in September 2017, the championship was administrated by the Comité International Roller In-Line Hockey (CIRILH), an organization and discipline of Fédération Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS). It is the sport's highest-profile annual international tournament.

The 2013–14 CERH European League was the 49th season of Europe's premier club roller hockey competition organised by CERH, and the 17th season since it was renamed from Champions League to European League. Sixteen teams from six national associations qualified for the competition as a result of their domestic league placing in the previous season. Following a group stage and a knockout round, the four best teams contested a final four tournament, which took place at the Palau Blaugrana in Barcelona, on 3 and 4 May 2014.

The 1953 Roller Hockey World Cup was the ninth roller hockey world cup, organized by the Fédération Internationale de Patinage a Roulettes. It was contested by 13 national teams and it is also considered the 1953 European Roller Hockey Championship. All the games were played in the city of Geneva, in Switzerland, the chosen city to host the World Cup. Also for the first time there was a two-group stage, with the first two teams from each group qualifying to a final-four group.

Argentina women's national inline hockey team is the Argentinean national team in Women's Roller in-line hockey. The team competed in the 2013 Women's World Inline Hockey Championships.

The history of the Portugal national football team dates back to its first match on 18 December 1921. The national team, also referred to as Seleção das Quinas, represents the nation of Portugal in international football. It is fielded by the Portuguese Football Federation and competes as one of the founding members of UEFA.

The 2014–15 CERH European League was the 50th season of Europe's premier club roller hockey tournament organised by CERH, and the 19th season since it was renamed from the European Champion Clubs' Cup to the CERH Champions League/European League.

The 2017 FIRS Men's Roller Hockey World Cup was the 43rd edition of the Roller Hockey World Cup, organised by the Fédération Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS). The tournament was held for the first time in China, in the city of Nanjing, from 3 to 9 September 2017, as part of the 2017 World Roller Games. Spain won his 17th title, defeating Portugal, who returned to the final, after an eleven years absence, in penalties.

The 2017 FIRS Women's Roller Hockey World Cup was the 14th edition of the Women's Roller Hockey World Cup, organised by the Fédération Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS). The tournament was held for the first time in China, in the city of Nanjing, from 27 August to 2 September 2017, as part of the 2017 World Roller Games.

Twelve teams are scheduled to compete in the women's Olympic football tournament.

The 2020–21 Rink Hockey Euroleague was the 56th season of Europe's premier club roller hockey tournament organised by World Skate Europe – Rink Hockey, and the 24th season since it was renamed from European Champion Clubs' Cup to Euroleague.
