It was the 26th edition of the Tournoi de Québec and part of the WTA International tournaments of the 2018 WTA Tour. It took place at the PEPS de l'Université Laval in Quebec City, Canada, from September 10 through September 16, 2018.

It was Kvitová's first WTA 1000 title since the 2018 Madrid Open, and her 30th career title overall; she also became the first Czech player to win the title. Rybakina was attempting to complete the Sunshine Double, having already won the title at Indian Wells.
