Tennis at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Womens doubles 2020 Olympic tennis tournament

The Czech Republic's Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková defeated Switzerland's Belinda Bencic and Viktorija Golubic in the final, 7–5, 6–1 to win the gold medal in Women's Doubles tennis at the 2020 Summer Olympics. It was the Czech Republic's first victory in women's doubles, and its third consecutive medal. In the bronze medal match, Brazil's Laura Pigossi and Luisa Stefani defeated Veronika Kudermetova and Elena Vesnina of the Russian Olympic Committee, 4–6, 6–4, [11–9]. It was Brazil's first Olympic tennis medal.

Misaki Doi and Jil Teichmann were the defending champions, but Doi chose not to participate. Teichmann played alongside Madison Brengle, but they lost in the first round to Quinn Gleason and Luisa Stefani.

This was the first edition of the tournament.

Tímea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic won their second Australian Open title, defeating Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strýcová in the final, 6–2, 6–1. Despite the loss, Hsieh regained the WTA no. 1 doubles ranking for the first time since 2014, replacing her partner Strýcová. Mladenovic, Aryna Sabalenka and Xu Yifan were also in contention for the top ranking at the start of the tournament.

Hayley Carter and Ena Shibahara were the defending champions, but Shibahara chose not to participate this year.

Margarita Gasparyan and Ekaterina Makarova were the defending champions, but Gasparyan chose not to defend her title. Makarova retired from professional tennis in January 2020.

Daria Gavrilova and Ellen Perez were the defending champions but Gavrilova chose not to participate. Perez played alongside Storm Sanders but lost in the first round to Nicole Melichar and Demi Schuurs.

This was the first edition of the tournament. Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara won the title, defeating Hayley Carter and Luisa Stefani in the final, 7–6(7–5), 6–4.

This was the second major mixed doubles title Krejčíková and Ram won together as a team after they won their first at the 2019 Australian Open. The pair saved a match point in their second round match against Ena Shibahara and Ben McLachlan en route to the title.

Nicole Melichar and Xu Yifan were the defending champions but Melichar chose not to participate. Xu partnered Yang Zhaoxuan, but they lost in the semifinals to Hayley Carter and Luisa Stefani.

Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strýcová were the two-time defending champions, but they chose not to participate.

Aoyama and Shibahara's first WTA 1000 victory earned them their third title of the year and made them the first Japanese champions in Miami since Ai Sugiyama in 2008.

Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strýcová were the defending champions Strýcová retired from professional tennis in May 2021., while Hsieh played alongside Elise Mertens, but lost in the second round to Sharon Fichman and Giuliana Olmos.

Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková defeated Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Iga Świątek in the final, 6–4, 6–2, to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2021 French Open. It was the pair's second French Open title and third major together. Krejčíková became the first woman to win both the singles and doubles tournaments at a Grand Slam since Serena Williams at the 2016 Wimbledon Championships, and the first to do so at the French Open since Mary Pierce in 2000, making her the seventh woman to accomplish the sweep in French Open history.

Defending champion Hsieh Su-wei and her partner, Elise Mertens, defeated Veronika Kudermetova and Elena Vesnina in the final, 3–6, 7–5, 9–7, to win the ladies' doubles tennis title at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The pair saved two championship points in the final en route to winning their first major together.

Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk defeated Joe Salisbury and Harriet Dart in the final, 6–2, 7–6(7–1), to win the mixed doubles title at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. It was Krawczyk's second consecutive major title in mixed doubles, following her success at the French Open.

Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková were the defending champions from when the tournament was last held in 2019, but withdrew before the tournament began.

Květa Peschke and Demi Schuurs were the defending champions, but chose to compete with different partners. Peschke partnered Ellen Perez, and Schuurs partnered Nicole Melichar. Both teams lost to Samantha Stosur and Zhang Shuai; Perez and Peschke did so in the second round, whilst Melichar and Schuurs lost in the quarterfinals.

Desirae Krawczyk and Joe Salisbury defeated Giuliana Olmos and Marcelo Arévalo in the final, 7–5, 6–2 to win the mixed doubles tennis title at the 2021 US Open. By winning the title, Krawczyk and Salisbury received their third and second major mixed doubles title, respectively. Their victory together made Krawczyk the first player to win three consecutive mixed doubles major trophies since Mahesh Bhupathi in 2005 and 2006, and the seventh player in the Open Era to win three mixed doubles titles in a single season. Salisbury became the first man to win both the men's doubles and mixed doubles titles at the US Open in the same year since Bob Bryan in 2010.
