The 2020 Euro Hockey League Women was supposed to be the first edition of the Euro Hockey League Women, Europe's premier women's club field hockey tournament, organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was originally scheduled to be held at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands from 9 to 13 April 2020. [1] [2]
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe the tournament was put on hold in March 2020. [3] On 12 May 2020, it was announced that the tournament was postponed to October 2020. [4] The tournament was officially cancelled on 14 August 2020. [5]
A total of 8 teams from 6 of the 45 EHF member associations would participate in the 2020 EHL Women. The association rankings based on the EHL country coefficients was used to determine the number of participating teams for each association: [6]
For the 2020 Euro Hockey League Women, the associations were allocated places according to their 2019 EHCC country coefficients, which takes into account their performance in the EuroHockey Club Cup and the EuroHockey Club Trophy from 2016–17 to 2018–19.

The Euro Hockey League is an annual men's field hockey cup competition organized by the EHF for the very top field hockey clubs in Europe. The competition was launched at the start of the 2007-08 field hockey season when it merged and replaced the men's EuroHockey Club Champions Cup and the EuroHockey Cup Winners Cup. Featuring many of the world's best players, the EHL is now seen as the pinnacle of club hockey in Europe with top clubs from across the continent playing what many consider to be the most exciting and dynamic club hockey in the world.

Alexander Cox, also known as Alex Cox, is a Dutch field hockey coach and a former field hockey player. He guided SV Kampong to the 2015–16 Euro Hockey League title and two successive Hoofdklasse titles in 2016–17 and 2017–18. He has also worked as an assistant coach with both the Netherlands men's and Netherlands women's teams. He was head coach of the Netherlands U21 team that won the 2017 Men's EuroHockey Junior Championship. Between 2018 and 2019, Cox served as head coach of the Ireland men. He is married to Marsha Marescia, the former South Africa women's international.
