The CBS Evening News is the flagship evening television news program of CBS News, the news division of the CBS television network in the United States. The CBS Evening News is a daily evening broadcast featuring news reports, feature stories and interviews by CBS News correspondents and reporters covering events around the world. The program has been broadcast since July 1, 1941, under the original title CBS Television News, eventually adopting its current title in 1963.

James Charles Lehrer was an American journalist, novelist, screenwriter, and playwright. He was the executive editor and a news anchor for the PBS NewsHour on PBS and was known for his role as a debate moderator during U.S. presidential election campaigns, moderating twelve presidential debates between 1988 and 2012. Lehrer authored numerous fiction and non-fiction books that drew upon his experience as a newsman, along with his interests in history and politics.

Robert Breckenridge Ware MacNeil was a Canadian-American journalist, writer and television news anchor. Judy Carline Woodruff is an American broadcast journalist who has worked in local, network, cable, and public television news since 1970. Roger Harrison Mudd was an American broadcast journalist who was a correspondent and anchor for CBS News and NBC News. He also worked as the primary anchor for The History Channel. The 34th News & Documentary Emmy Awards were held on October 1, 2013, at Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, located in the Time Warner Center in New York City. Awards were presented in 42 categories, including Breaking News, Investigative Reporting, Outstanding Interview, and Best Documentary. In attendance were over 900 television and news media industry executives, news and documentary producers and journalists.

Lester Martin Crystal was an Emmy Award-winning American television news executive best known for being the founding executive producer of the nation’s first hour-long nightly newscast, The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour, and also for being president of NBC News. He joined The NewsHour as executive producer in 1983 and was appointed president of MacNeil/Lehrer Productions in 2005, a position he held until his retirement in 2010. Prior to PBS, Crystal had a 20-year career at the National Broadcasting Company, where he served as president of NBC News from 1977–79, executive producer of NBC Nightly News from 1973–76, European field producer of NBC Nightly News from 1970-1973 and producer of The Huntley-Brinkley Report from 1968-1970.
The 44th News and Documentary Emmy Awards will be presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), to honor the best in American news and documentary programming in 2022. The winners are set to be announced on two ceremonies held at Palladium Times Square in New York City and live-streamed at Watch.TheEmmys.TV and other associated apps. The winners of the news categories are scheduled to be announced on September 27, 2023, while the ones for the documentary categories are set to be revealed on September 28, 2023.
