A. Favre & Fils is a Swiss luxury watch manufacturer located in Carouge, a municipality in the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland. Their timepieces are made from 18k gold (white or rose).
A record saved in the Neuchâtel State Archives establishes that on March 29, 1718, a contract was concluded between Abraham Favre and the master watchmaker Daniel Gagnebin in which the former commits to teach Abraham Favre the profession of watchmaking to the extent of his knowledge for a period of three years. This document marks the beginning of the Favre watchmaking history. Another official document dated from 1737 then mentions his son, also named Abraham, as a master watchmaker. From the fourth generation on, the trade name of the firm becomes Abraham Favre & Fils, and the timepieces are subsequently signed with the brand "A. Favre & Fils".[ citation needed ]

I - Abraham Favre (1685–1762), "ancien d´église", replacement Judge, entrepreneur in public construction. First initiation to watchmaking in 1718.
II - Abraham Favre (1702–1790), replacement Judge, master watchmaker.
III - Abraham Favre (1740–1823), counselor, captain of the local militia, master watchmaker and watch dealer.
IV - Frédéric Favre (1766–1840), President of the Charity Chamber in Le Locle and watch dealer.
V - Henri-Auguste Favre (1796–1865),watch manufacturer, Captain of the local armed forces, former member of the legislative Corps of Neuchâtel.
VI - Fritz Favre (1828–1877), watch manufacturer, Judge, Captain of local armed forces, assistant to the Major in the battalion I of Le Locle.
VII - Henri-Adrien Favre (1865–1961), industrial and watch manufacturer.
VIII - Henry-A. Favre (1908–1972), PhD in Law, President of the Montres FAVRE-LEUBA Company from 1934 to 1969 and of the SAPHIR Group from 1969 to 1972.
IX - Florian Favre, born in 1942, Sales Executive and Head of Product Development in the SAPHIR Group from 1966 to 1975, Owner and President of Florian Favre SA, from 1976 to 2005.
Eric Favre, born in 1943, CEO of the SAPHIR S.A. holding from 1972 to 1977.
X - Laurent Favre, born in 1973, Founder of A. FAVRE & FILS.
Abraham-Louis Breguet, born in Neuchâtel, then a Prussian principality, was a horologist who made many innovations in the course of a career in watchmaking industry. He was the founder of the Breguet company, which is now the luxury watch division of the Swiss Swatch Group.
A watchmaker is an artisan who makes and repairs watches. Since a majority of watches are now factory-made, most modern watchmakers only repair watches. However, originally they were master craftsmen who built watches, including all their parts, by hand. Modern watchmakers, when required to repair older watches, for which replacement parts may not be available, must have fabrication skills, and can typically manufacture replacements for many of the parts found in a watch. The term clockmaker refers to an equivalent occupation specializing in clocks.

Zenith SA is a Swiss luxury watchmaker. The company was started in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot in Le Locle in the canton of Neuchâtel and is one of the oldest continuously operating watchmakers. Favre-Jacot invented the concept of "in house movements", believing that only through control of the entire watchmaking process could the highest quality be achieved. Zenith was purchased by LVMH in November 1999, becoming one of several brands in its watch and jewellery division, which includes TAG Heuer and Hublot. Julien Tornare is president and CEO.

Maîtres du Temps is a Swiss watch company. Founded in 2005 by Steven Holtzman, the brand is based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The brand launched in Geneva in 2008 with Chapter One, a watch developed by Christophe Claret, Roger Dubuis and Peter Speake-Marin.
Léon Louis Gallet (1832–1899), watchmaker, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and past family patriarch of the Gallet Watch Company of Switzerland, is considered as one of the primary architects and founders of the 19th century industrialization of the Swiss watchmaking industry.
An observatory chronometer is a timepiece that has passed stringent testing and a slate of accuracy tests. Thus, the "observatory trial" developed as the standard process for determining accuracy of timepiece movements. If the chronometer passed the stringent testing, it would be certified.

Cyma SA is a Swiss manufacturer of luxury wristwatches, founded by brothers Joseph and Theodore Schwob in 1862. By 1908, Cyma was advertising the resilience of their timepieces when exposed to electricity, magnetism and varying temperatures. The company is currently owned by Stelux International, Ltd. a Hong Kong-based holdings firm which invests primarily in fine jewellery and watches, and is overseen by fellow Fédération de L'industrie Horlogère Suisse member Universal Genève.
Favre-Leuba is a Swiss manufacturer of luxury wristwatches headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, and formerly a pioneer in watch design, manufacturing and distribution. The foundation of the brand was laid in 1737 when Abraham Favre was registered as a watchmaker, so it has been reported as the second-oldest watch brand in Switzerland, after Blancpain (1735).
Arcadia Watches is a Swiss brand of luxury watches established in 1858. In 1968, the brand ceased due to a decline caused by the introduction of quartz movements. It was relaunched in 2007 by Claude Sanz, owner and President of Maison Bunter based in Geneva, and the first new Arcadia watch, the AC01, entered the market in 2010.
