Anders Thiset (25 February 1850 -14 July 1917) was a Danish historian, genealogist, heraldic artist, archivist and encyclopedist.

Biography

Thiset was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was a student of H.E. Melchior (1881-1927) and completed Melchiors Borgerskole with a preliminary examination in 1864. He b'Danske adelige Brevkister (1897). He is most known for publishing Danmarks Adels Aarbog from 1884 together with journalist H.R. Hiort

Marcus Melchior was a Danish rabbi. The rabbi of the main synagogue in Copenhagen, Denmark, at the time of the rescue of the Danish Jews in October 1943, during the Second World War. After escaping with his family and other Danish Jews to Sweden, he served as the acting rabbi for the Jewish refugees in Sweden until the end of the war, in mid 1945. In 1947 he became the chief rabbi of Denmark, a post he held until his death, in 1969.

Arne Melchior was a Danish politician. The son of Marcus Melchior, he was Jewish and a supporter of Jewish causes.

In a Roman Osteria is an oil-on-canvas painting by the Danish painter Carl Bloch. It was painted in 1866. One of Bloch's better-known genre scenes, the painting was commissioned by the merchant Moritz G. Melchior, Bloch's friend and major supporter who is included in the background of the painting.
