BLACKsummers'night Tour is a tour by American R&B singer Maxwell. The tour was in support of his platinum hit album BLACKsummers'night . [1] The trek kicked off on June 17, 2009, in Grand Rapids, Michigan throughout North America. [2] The tour continued during the fall with a second U.S. run in September, [3] and additional dates added throughout Europe, his first tour there in 11 years. [4]

Background

Before the release of Maxwell's anticipated album BLACKsummers'night released on July 7, 2009 the singer embarked on a summer tour that kicked off in North America on June 17, that ended on August 2, in New York. [5] Following the summer U.S. leg, he added dates for the fall outing starting Sept 2, at the House of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts that included supporting acts R&B singer Chrisette Michele and hiphop artist Common joining him on Sept. 25 in Toronto. [6] Maxwell kicked off a European tour on oct 28, in Birmingham, UK with a final run ending on November 13, at London' s o2 Academy Brixton. [7]

Heavily playing in the United States, the tour supported Maxwell's fourth studio album BLACKsummers'night. Singer Erykah Badu joined as a featured performer on select dates. Maxwell and Scott planned a second leg of the tour for the summer of 2010, however the leg was canceled abruptly. It was later revealed Maxwell postponed the tour dates until 2011, without Scott joining.

The Vortex Tour was a worldwide tour by American R&B/soul singer Erykah Badu in support of her Platinum selling 2008 album, New Amerykah Part One . The U.S. tour kicked off May 4, in Detroit, MI ending on June 15, in Albuquerque, N.M. The second leg of tour reached Europe on June 25, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Badu toured across Europe playing shows that included an itinerary for the month of July. Several more shows were added throughout August in the U.S.

The Out My Mind, Just in Time Tour was a concert tour by American R&B/soul singer, Erykah Badu, in support of her album, New Amerykah Part Two . Chris "Daddy" Dave is a drummer, composer, and bandleader from Houston, Texas. He attended Howard University. He is a drummer in jazz, gospel, hip hop, noted for his extremely virtuosic sticking technique and ability to play with a high degree of syncopation. He performed professionally as a gospel drummer with the Winans, before being introduced to jazz audiences nationally through his association with the accomplished alto saxophonist Kenny Garrett. He performed on Kenny Garrett's album Standard of Language, before joining the Robert Glasper Experiment and performing on Adele's Grammy Award winning album, 21. He also recorded on D'Angelo's album Black Messiah, and joined the band for the world tour.
