Bages Tram-train

The Bages Tram-train is a railway project for the Catalan comarca of Bages. At the moment[ when? ] it is on the feasibility study phase, and it is expected to be ready by 2016,[ needs update ] after two years of construction beginning in 2014. The cost of the project, excluding the rolling stock, will be of 105 million euro. [1]

This line will be 34.4 km long, 25 km of which are from Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya freight lines. With 25 stations, it will link the towns of Manresa, Sallent and Súria, as well as allow connection with other transportation services such as Rodalies Barcelona in Manresa.

Manresa Municipality in Catalonia, Spain

It is an industrial area with textile, metallurgical, and glass industries. The houses of Manresa are arranged around the basilica of Santa Maria de la Seu. Saint Ignatius of Loyola stopped to pray in the town on his way back from Montserrat in 1522. He also read in solitude in a cave near the town for a year, which contributed to the formulation of his Spiritual Exercises. As such, the town is a place of pilgrimage for Catholics.

Sallent Municipality in Catalonia, Spain

Sallent is a municipality in the comarca of Bages, Province of Barcelona, in the Autonomous Community of Catalonia, Spain. The river Llobregat divides the municipality into two halves. Its main resources are mining and industry. It was the birthplace of Saint Anthony Mary Claret (1807–1870)

Llobregat–Anoia Line

The Llobregat–Anoia Line is an unconnected metre gauge railway line linking Barcelona with the Baix Llobregat, Bages and Anoia regions, in Catalonia, Spain. Its name refers to the fact that it follows the course of the Llobregat and Anoia rivers for most of its length. Plaça d'Espanya station serves as the Barcelona terminus of the line, then continuing northwards to Martorell, where two main branches to Manresa and Igualada are formed.
