AMA Superbike Championship is an American motorcycle racing series that has been run every year beginning in 1976. For most of its existence it has been considered the premier motorcycle road racing series in the United States. It is sanctioned by the AMA American Motorcyclist Association since its inception, and the promotion of the series has been licensed to several organizations over the years. Since 2015 the series has been run and promoted by MotoAmerica, who also manage several other AMA professional road racing championships, including the popular 600cc Supersport class.
Norifumi "Norick" Abe, or Norick Abe (ノリック・アベ) was a Japanese professional motorcycle road racer who was previously a 500 cc/MotoGP rider. He died in a road traffic crash in October 2007.
Michael Laverty is an occasional motorcycle racer from Toomebridge, Northern Ireland. After participating in the 2017 season in the British Superbike Championship aboard a Yamaha YZF-R1, and the 2018 season on a Tyco BMW, Laverty became a television commentator and occasional rider in Endurance events.
Scott Paul Smart is a British motorcycle racer and an occasional TV commentator for Channel 4. He is the son of Paul Smart, and the nephew of Barry Sheene.
Thomas Hayden, aka Tommy Gun, is an American professional motorcycle racer and oldest brother to racers Nicky and Roger Lee.
Doug Polen is an American former professional motorcycle road racer. Polen was a dominant national and world champion road racer in the late 1980s and early 1990s, culminating with his Superbike world championships in 1991 and 1992. He raced successfully in AMA Superbike, Japanese Superbike Championship, Superbike World Championship and endurance racing. Polen was inducted to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2011.
Terence William Rymer is an English former professional motorcycle road racer turned car and truck racer. Rymer won over 200 races in 20 years of competition during his motorcycle and car racing career.
Jakub 'Kuba' Smrž is a professional motorcycle road racer. He currently competes in the Superbike World Championship, aboard a Yamaha YZF-R1. For 2017 and 2018 he rode a BMW S1000RR in the British Superbike Championship, but in June 2018 he suffered a serious shoulder injury when guest-riding for Czech BMW team Mercury Racing in the Oschersleben eight-hour event in Germany. Luke Hedger rode Smrž' machine in his absence.
Jake Zemke is an American former professional motorcycle road racer of partial Japanese ancestry. He turned pro in 1992. Zemke's race number has been 98 for most of his racing career. He started his own riding school called Zemke Riding Development.
Jordan Szoke is a professional superbike racer and 14-time Canadian National Champion from Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Nicknamed "The People's Champ," Szoke is widely considered one of the greatest racers in Canadian history, and holds numerous Canadian Superbike records.
Federico Sandi is an Italian motorcycle racer. He competes in the European Superstock 1000 Championship aboard a Ducati 1199 Panigale. He has competed at international level in the 125cc World Championship, the 250cc World Championship and the Superbike World Championship.
Vittorio Iannuzzo is an Italian motorcycle racer. He currently competes in the IDM Superbike Championship aboard a Suzuki GSX-R1000.
Wayne Maxwell is a professional motorcycle racer from Australia. He was the Australian Superbike champion in 2013 and 2020 and the Australasian Superbike and Australian FX Superbike champion in 2014. He races in the Australasian Superbike Championship aboard a Yamaha YZF-R1.
Patrick "PJ" Jacobsen is an American motorcycle racer. For most of the 2018 season he raced in the Superbike World Championship aboard a Honda CBR1000RR before parting company with his Triple M team, being replaced for two races by Florian Marino.
Joshua "Josh" Waters is an Australian motorcycle racer. He currently competes in the Australian Superbike Championship. He is a three-time Australian Superbike champion having won the 2009, 2012 for Team Suzuki Australia, and then in 2017, won his third championship for Team Suzuki ECSTAR finishing four points ahead Wayne Maxwell who was then racing for the Yamaha Racing. He has also competed in the Australian 125GP Championship, the Australian Supersport Championship, the British Superbike Championship and the Superbike World Championship.
Ayrton Badovini is an Italian motorcycle racer. He has competed in the Italian Superbike Championship, the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup, where he was champion in 2010, the Superbike World Championship and the Supersport World Championship.
Florian Marino is a French motorcycle racer. In 2018, he replaced PJ Jacobsen on the Triple M Honda Fireblade for two races of the Superbike World Championship in Argentina, becoming injured during the second leg and was unable to compete in the final event at Qatar. He currently competes in the Spanish Superbike Championship, aboard a BMW S1000RR. In May 2023 he was also the test rider for Kawasaki at Misano.
Matteo Baiocco is an Italian motorcycle racer. He was the CIV Superbike champion in 2011, 2012 and 2016. In 2017, he will compete in the CIV Superbike Championship aboard an Aprilia RSV4.
Christian Iddon is a British motorcycle racer from Stockport, England. He is the son of former racer Paul Iddon.
The Transatlantic Trophy was an annual series of motorcycle races between the United Kingdom and America held from 1971 to 1988 and again in 1991. They were mostly held over the Easter weekend at Brands Hatch, Mallory Park and Oulton Park, although some races were held at Donington Park and Snetterton. Three different specifications of motorcycles were used in the series at various times: AMA/F750, Superbike and GP.
