South Yorkshire is a ceremonial county and metropolitan county in England. It is the southernmost county in the Yorkshire and the Humber region and had a population of 1.34 million in 2011. It has an area of 1,552 square kilometres (599 sq mi) and consists of four metropolitan boroughs, Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. South Yorkshire was created on 1 April 1974 as a result of the Local Government Act 1972. Its largest settlement is Sheffield.
BBC Radio Sheffield is the BBC Local Radio service for English metropolitan county of South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire. This includes the city of Sheffield, plus Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Chesterfield, Worksop and surrounding areas and broadcasts from a studio complex at 54 Shoreham Street in Sheffield city centre, on 88.6, 94.7, 104.1 FM, 1035 AM, DAB and DTR. It is also available through live streaming on the internet.
The North Midlands is a loosely defined area of England. A statistical definition, first defined in 1881, included the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland as part of the North Midlands region. The region has remained in informal use for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, the northern parts of Lincolnshire and Staffordshire, and Cheshire and South Yorkshire to a lesser extent. A combined authority area for the North Midlands was proposed during 2016 for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, but was cancelled when the devolution deal for it collapsed later in the year.
Paul David Hudson is an English weather presenter for BBC Yorkshire and BBC Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Hudson was born and raised in Keighley, West Yorkshire. He was made an Honorary Fellow of Bradford College in 2014.
John Carr (1723–1807) was a prolific English architect, best known for Buxton Crescent in Derbyshire and Harewood House in West Yorkshire. Much of his work was in the Palladian style. In his day he was considered to be the leading architect in the north of England.

Crystal Peaks is a shopping centre and retail park in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Established in 1988, the centre attracts around 11 million visitors a year.
Laughton en le Morthen is a small dormitory village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham lying to the south of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England, and its main attraction is the All Saints Church with its huge spire. It had a population of 1,241 at the 2011 Census.

The Sheffield Half Marathon is an annual half marathon held in Sheffield, England. It was started as a marathon in 1929 for two years, with a half marathon run at the same time. It restarted again 1946 after the Second World War. In 2003 it was reduced to a half marathon and 3-kilometre fun run. Moving from Hillsborough in 1991, the race started and finished at Don Valley Stadium, the stadium where Jessica Ennis trained, until the stadium's closure was announced in 2013. The race is gold graded by UK Athletics.

Sheffield Children's Trust is an NHS hospital trust mainly providing healthcare for children in Sheffield and the surrounding area of South Yorkshire. A third of patients come from the outside Sheffield, from all parts of the country, but especially from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Derbyshire Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

The Rotherham by-election was a by-election for the Parliament of the United Kingdom's House of Commons constituency of Rotherham. The by-election was caused by the resignation of its Member of Parliament Denis MacShane after the House of Commons Standards and Privileges Committee found that he had submitted 19 false invoices "plainly intended to deceive" the parliamentary expenses authority, an issue dating back to 2009 and a wider parliamentary expenses scandal in the UK. MacShane accepted the office of Steward and Bailiff of the Chiltern Hundreds on 5 November 2012, formally vacating his seat. The election took place on 29 November 2012, at the same time as by-elections in Croydon North and Middlesbrough which were caused by the deaths of the sitting MPs.
Calendar is the evening news programme produced by ITV Yorkshire and broadcasting to Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, northwestern Norfolk and parts of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. It broadcasts for thirty minutes each Monday to Friday from 18:00, covering regional news stories, features, sport and weather. It is presented by Christine Talbot or Duncan Wood. Shorter bulletins air at other times.
Jane Maria Collins is a British politician and horse show-jumper, she sat as a Member of the European Parliament for the Yorkshire and the Humber region. She was elected in May 2014 as a member of the UK Independence Party in May 2014, but defected to the Brexit Party in 2019 in the last months of her membership of the European Parliament.
The Sheffield City Region Combined Authority is the combined authority for South Yorkshire in England, with powers over transport, economic development and regeneration. It covers a total area of 3484km² and is home to a population of 1.8 million. It includes the entirety of metropolitan county of South Yorkshire aswell as the North East Derbyshire District, and in addition to this the Derbyshire Dales District. Furthermore it includes the Bassetlaw non-metropolitan District, Chesterfield non-metropolitan and the Bolsover non-metropolitan District.
