Broadcast since 1 May 1958, China Central Television (CCTV) has 17 channels plus an additional five channels in different languages broadcast from China and across the globe. All CCTV channels are broadcast around the world through satellite broadcast and on Internet television. The CCTV channels are listed below in sequential order with no discerning descriptions, e.g. CCTV-1, CCTV-2, etc.

CCTV was one of the six participants of China 3D TV Test Channel (Chinese :中国3D电视试验频道, already closed), a television channel broadcasting various digital 3D television content.

International broadcasts

It is possible to receive channels CCTV-4 (Mandarin channel targeted at an overseas Chinese audience), CGTN (targeting an English-speaking audience), CGTN Spanish (in Spanish) and CGTN French (in French) outside China by using a Digital Video Broadcast signal (plus additional broadcast support together with Dolby Stereo, Dolby Surround, Dolby SR, Dolby Digital Advanced Sound Quality Definition and Improvement System Support, technologized and developed by Dolby Laboratories, Datasat, and the SDDS for digital audio system supportments). CCTV has just recently switched from analog to DVB primarily due to better signal quality and the ability to charge for reception (about US$10 per year subscription). The overseas channels are widely available across many cable and satellite providers.

CCTV-4 was officially relaunched by the split into three television channels on Monday, 1 January 2007 at 00:00 CST in order to improve service for audiences around the world.

On 25 July 2009, CCTV launched its Arabic-language international channel, stating that it aims to maintain stronger links with Arabic nations and that the new channel would "serve as an important bridge to strengthen communication and understanding between China and Arab countries". The Arabic channel targets the Middle East, North Africa and Asia region. On 10 September 2009, CCTV launched a Russian-language channel, CCTV-Русский. All five foreign language channels were rebranded under the China Global Television Network (CGTN) brand at the end of 2016.

Chung T'ien Television, is a nationwide cable TV network based in Taiwan. It belongs to Want Want China Times group, which also owns China Television (CTV).

CTi News is a Taiwanese 24-hour online news outlet and, until December 2020, cable television channel, operated by Chung T'ien Television.

CGTN Arabic Arabic language television channel owned by China Global Television Network

CGTN Arabic, formerly CCTV-Arabic, is an Arabic language television channel owned by China Global Television Network, a subsidiary of China Central Television.

CCTV-13, formerly CCTV News, broadcasting across China since 2003, is a 24-hour news channel of China Central Television and the biggest news channel in mainland China.

CGTN Russian is a Russian language international news, entertainment, and education television channel owned by China Central Television.

CCTV-5+ (Sports Plus) (Chinese: 中国中央电视台体育赛事频道) formerly CCTV-HD is China Central Television's channel designed to broadcast top international sporting events in HD. It was tested in Beijing on 1 January 2008, and launched officially on 30 June 2008 known as CCTV-HD. CCTV-HD was created specifically for the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2008 Summer Paralympics.

China 3D TV Test Channel was a Chinese television channel which broadcast digital 3D television content from China Central Television, Beijing Television, Tianjin Television, Shanghai Media Group, Jiangsu Television and Shenzhen Media Group. It was launched on 1 January 2012 and was shut down on 30 July 2018, being replaced by CCTV-4K, a television channel which broadcasts 4K content solely from CCTV.

China Movie Channel, the trade name of, an agency at the Chinese Government's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television. In mainland China, the agency provides programming to the China Central Television channel CCTV-6, which is dedicated to movies. It airs CCTV New Year's Gala since February 18, 1996.

CGTN Documentary Chinese English-language pay television channel

CGTN Documentary is a Chinese pay television channel operated by the China Global Television Network (CGTN) group, owned by Chinese state broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV). The channel broadcasts documentaries in the English language, and is China's first state-level English-language documentary channel to broadcast globally.
