Murcia is a city in south-eastern Spain, the capital and most populous city of the autonomous community of the Region of Murcia, and the seventh largest city in the country. It had a population of 447,182 inhabitants in 2018. The total population of the metropolitan area was 689,591 in 2010. It is located on the Segura River, in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula. It has a climate with hot summers, mild winters, and relatively low precipitation.
La Caixa, also known as the "La Caixa" Foundation, is a not-for-profit banking foundation based in eastern Spain. Originally a savings bank (caja), it reorganized in the 2000s and 2010s: Its commercial assets are managed under its subsidiary CriteriaCaixa, which also has partial ownership of La Caixa's old banking business CaixaBank; those are used to fund La Caixa's Obra Social — social, cultural, scientific, and civic projects for the public good.
ElPozo Murcia Fútbol Sala is a futsal club based in Murcia, city in the autonomous community of Region of Murcia. The club was founded in 1989 and its venue is Palacio de Deportes de Murcia with capacity of 7,500 seaters. The club has the sponsorship of ElPozo and Murcia Turística. That year El Pozo bought the rights of the LNFS Joyita Cruz which they had sponsored in the past. Throughout its history ElPozo has won five league titles and four Copa de España and a European Futsal Cup Winners Cup in 2003/04.

Caja Rural–Seguros RGA is a UCI ProTeam cycling team sponsored principally by Grupo Caja Rural, a Spanish banking group. The team participates in UCI Europe Tour races and UCI World Tour events when given a wildcard invitation. The team's administrative offices and management are based in Pamplona, Navarra, Spain, but its service course is in Alsasua, Navarra. It was announced in February 2013 that the team had acquired a co-sponsor in a subsidiary of Caja Rural and would become known as Caja Rural–Seguros RGA from 21 February 2013.

The 2021 Vuelta a Murcia was the 41st edition of the Vuelta a Murcia road cycling race. It was held on 23 May 2021 in the titular region of southeastern Spain as a category 1.1 event on the 2021 UCI Europe Tour calendar. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the race was postponed from mid-February to late May. As a result, the race reverted to the one-day nature it had previously held before 2019.
