Chess Players Association of India (CPAI) is an association of chess players in India affiliated to the All India Chess Federation. [1] The objective of this association is to serve a common forum for players for Indian chess players and promote the game in particular.

All India Chess Federation

The All India Chess Federation (AICF) is central administrative body for the game of chess in India. Founded in 1951, the federation is affiliated to Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE), the world body for chess. The AICF has produced champions Viswanathan Anand, Manuel Aaron, Dibyendu Barua and Parimarjan Negi. The organisation is also in charge of managing women's chess in India. Its current headquarters is in Chennai.

The CPAI had formed to protest a 10% prize money cut imposed on the players by the All India Chess Federation in mid-2004. [2] The association has stuck ever since catering to the needs of the players and forming a group to protect the rights of the Indian chess players

The United States Chess Federation is the governing body for chess competition in the United States and represents the U.S. in FIDE, the World Chess Federation. British Chess Championship

The British Chess Championship is organised by the English Chess Federation. The main tournament incorporates the British Chess Championships, the English Chess Championships and the British Women's Chess Championship so it is possible, although it has never happened, for one player to win all three titles in the same competition. The English Women's Chess Championship was also incorporated into this event but did not take place in 2015 and was held as a separate competition in 2016. Since 1923 there have been sections for juniors, and since 1982 there has been an over-sixty championship. The championship venue usually changes every year and has been held in different locations in England, Scotland, Wales and once on the Isle of Man.

All India Football Federation

The All India Football Federation, also simply known as the AIFF, is the governing body of association football in India. Formed in 1937, the federation was one of founding members of the Asian Football Confederation, the overseer of football in Asia.

The English Chess Federation (ECF) is the governing chess organisation in England and is affiliated to FIDE. The ECF was formed in 2004 and was effectively a re-constitution of the extant governing body, the British Chess Federation (BCF), an organisation founded in 1904. The BCF had been set up to replace the non-functioning British Chess Association (BCA) and initially, not only governed chess in England, but also included Wales and Northern Ireland in its region of activities. Nowadays however, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the Channel Islands are all governed by their own chess federations and English chess administrators agreed in 2004 that it would be appropriate to replace the BCF with the ECF, the change to be effective from the start of the 2005/6 season.

The Australian Chess Federation (ACF) is dedicated to promoting the game of chess in Australia, and is a member of FIDE, the World Chess Federation.

The Commonwealth Chess Championship is a gathering of chess players from Commonwealth countries.

Sport in Chennai

The Chinese Chess Association (CCA) (中国国际象棋协会) is the governing body of chess in China and is one of the federations of FIDE. It is also a member of the Asian Chess Federation (ACF). It is the principal authority over all chess events in China, including the China Chess League (CCL). Founded in 1986, the CCA is headquartered in Beijing.

The All Assam Chess Association is a registered chess association of the Assam state of India. It was formed in the late 1960s by Bodiyuz Zaman from Jorhat. The first president of the association was Kamakhya Prasad Tripathi. It is affiliated with the All India Chess Federation and officially accredited by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs, (FIDE).

The All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) is the governing body for the game of Chess among visually impaired in India. It was formed in 1997 with a view to promoting the game of chess among the visually impaired all over the country. It is registered under Society Registration Act, 1860; Public Trust Act, 1951 and Income Tax Act, 1961 – Section 12A.

Tamil Nadu State Chess Association organization

The Tamil Nadu State Chess Association (TNSCA) is the apex body for the game of chess in Tamil Nadu, India. It was formed on April 26, 1947 with a view to identifying upcoming chess players and mould them into world-class professionals. The association was earlier known as Madras Chess Club. It is affiliated with the All India Chess Federation.

The All Tripura Chess Association (ATCA) is the apex body for the game of chess in Tripura, India. It was formed in 1974 and is affiliated with the All India Chess Federation.

The Maharashtra Chess Association (MCA) is the apex body for the game of chess in Maharashtra, India. It was formed in 1963 and is affiliated with the All India Chess Federation.

Rowing Federation of India

The Rowing Federation of India (RFI) is the central body for the game of rowing in India. It was formed on August 30, 1976 with a view to make the sport of Rowing popular in India. It is affiliated with the Indian Olympic Association and Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Aviron.
