Coach & Bus Week (CBW) is a weekly trade magazine based in Peterborough for the road passenger transport industry in the United Kingdom. The magazine is available by subscription, from main branches of WHSmith and from some independent newsagents.
Regular features of Coach & Bus Week include News, Coach News, Bus News, International News, Regional News, Drivers' Pages, Industry, Operator Profiles, Test Drives, Technical and Product/Services features, Open Platform, Deliveries, People News and Recruitment.[ needs update ] The magazine is linked with Group Travel World, a monthly magazine for the group travel industry published by GTW Media Limited, which additionally is sent to all full subscribers of Coach & Bus Week.[ citation needed ]
Coach & Bus Week can trace its origins back to 1978 with the founding of Coachmart in Kingston upon Hull by former coach proprietor Terry Beanland. [1] Its most prolific journalist was Ray Pearson, who covered all technical aspects, including road tests and tourism topics. The weekly magazine was purchased by EMAP and moved to Peterborough. [2] The publisher was EMAP Response (later renamed EMAP Automotive), which purchased Bus Business from Landor Publishing in 1989.
In 1992, following a downturn in advertising revenue as a result of the early 1990s recession, EMAP closed Bus Business and Coachmart. In their place, it launched Coach and Bus Week. The first weekly issue was published on 22 February 1992. The editor-in-chief was Mark Barton, the news and technical editor was Richard Simpson, the features editor was Mike Morgan, and the tourism editor was Mark Williams. [3] The long-term editor of the magazine during this period was Mike Morgan, who left the post in August 2003. [4]
EMAP sold Coach & Bus Week to Rouncy Media Ltd in 2005, however the magazine has been published by Coach and Bus Week Limited since 2012,[ citation needed ] with Rouncy ceasing trading in June 2012. [5] [ better source needed ]
Former editors Gareth Evans and James Day left the magazine in May 2018 and April 2020 respectively. The current editor is Richard Sharman.[ citation needed ]

The Plaxton President was a low floor double-decker bus body built by Plaxton at the former Northern Counties factory in Wigan, England. It was first unveiled in 1997 on the longitudinal Volvo B7L chassis and later built between 1998 and 2005 following a body redesign. When it became part of TransBus International, the body was sold under the TransBus name. The President was built on the Dennis/TransBus Trident, the DAF DB250 and the Volvo B7TL chassis.
The VDL DB250 was a twin-axle double-decker bus chassis manufactured by VDL Bus & Coach.
Xplore Dundee is a bus operator based in Dundee, Scotland, operating services mainly within the city. The operator also runs a service to Edinburgh Airport. It is a subsidiary of McGill's Bus Services.
The Optare Spectra was a double-decker bus body built on both the step entrance DAF DB250 and low-floor DB250LF chassis between 1991 and 2006.

The company was formed as an 'arms-length' successor of the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) in 1986, which was broken up as a result of the deregulation of bus services. South Yorkshire Transport operated buses in and around Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield with some services extending to Chesterfield, Leeds and Barnsley.
The Wright Liberator was a low-floor single-deck bus body built on Volvo B10L chassis by Wrightbus between 1996 and 1999.
The Northern Counties Palatine was a step-entrance 2-axle and 3-axle double-decker bus body built by Northern Counties from 1988 to 1999 in Wigan, England.
GM Buses was the main bus company serving the ten metropolitan districts of Greater Manchester in North West England. The company was formed at deregulation in 1986 by the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive. In December 1993, it was split into GM Buses North and GM Buses South in order to increase competition for services in the area, before they were sold to the FirstGroup and Stagecoach respectively.
The Wright Endurance was a step-entrance single-decker bus body on Scania N113 and on Volvo B10B chassis by Wrightbus between 1992 and 1997.
Stagecoach East is a bus operator providing local and regional services across the East of England, operating in the counties of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. The company is a subsidiary of the Stagecoach Group and is headquartered and registered in Cambridge.
The Alexander PS-type was a step-floor single-decker bus body built by Walter Alexander Coachbuilders in Falkirk, Scotland and was produced from 1988 to the late 1990s predominantly on the Dennis Lance, Mercedes-Benz O405, Scania N113, Volvo B10M chassis.
The Plaxton Pointer is a single-deck midibus body that was manufactured between 1991 and 2006, predominantly on the Dennis Dart chassis, by Reeve Burgess, Plaxton and latterly Alexander Dennis.
McGill's Bus Services is a bus operator based in Greenock, Scotland. The company has grown to operate a network of routes covering much of the council areas of Inverclyde, East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire, North Lanarkshire, Glasgow City, North Ayrshire, West Lothian, Falkirk and Dundee City. McGill's have several depots based in Greenock, Inchinnan, Johnstone, Edinburgh, Bannockburn, Balfron, Larbert, Livingston and Dundee. McGill's also formerly had depots in Dumbarton, Barrhead and Coatbridge.
The Alexander Ultra was a low floor single-deck bus body built on the Volvo B10L chassis by Walter Alexander Coachbuilders from 1995 to 1998. It was the right-hand drive equivalent of the Volvo 5000 and was built on license from Volvo Buses.
Rouncy Media Ltd ceased trading in June 2012 and was placed in liquidation in October 2012.
