The women's team foil competition in fencing at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held on 2 August at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre.
Nine teams competed in the women's team foil event. The draw was made considering the FIE rankings. [1]

Stefano Cerioni is an Italian foil fencer, Olympic team champion in 1984, Olympic champion in 1988 and World team champion in 1985 and 1994. He became a fencing master, then a director of foil first for Italy, then for Russia.
Dame Mary Alison Glen-Haig, was a British fencer who competed in four Olympic games in 1948, 1952, 1956 and 1960. She was born in London, the daughter of William James, a fencer at the 1908 London Olympics. She began competing professionally in 1937 and continued until 1960, during which time she won two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and competed in four Olympics in the women's individual foil events. She was one of the first female members of the International Olympic Committee in 1982 and was created a dame in 1993. After London's successful bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics in 2005, she was active as the host nation's ambassador to the games.
Arianna Errigo is an Italian foil and sabre fencer. She won a silver in women's individual foil and a gold in the women's team foil at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Wheelchair fencing at the 2012 Summer Paralympics was held in the ExCeL from 4 September to 8 September 2012.
The men's foil competition in fencing at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held on 31 July at the ExCeL London Exhibition Centre. There were 38 competitors from 20 nations. Lei Sheng of China won the gold medal, beating Alaaeldin Abouelkassem from Egypt in the final. It was the first medal in the individual men's foil for each of those nations. Choi Byung-chul of South Korea took bronze. The 2012 podium was the first time since 1904 that no European fencer won a medal in the event.
Ysaora Thibus is a French foil fencer. She won a silver medal in team foil at the 2012 European Fencing Championships in Legnano, Italy and a bronze medal in individual foil at the 2013 European Fencing Championships in Zagreb.
The 2014 World Fencing Championships were held in Kazan, Russia, from 15–23 July.
