A piano trio is a group of piano and two other instruments, usually a violin and a cello, or a piece of music written for such a group. It is one of the most common forms found in classical chamber music. The term can also refer to a group of musicians who regularly play this repertoire together; for a number of well-known piano trios, see below.

Florian Uhlig was born in Düsseldorf and gave his first piano recital at the age of twelve. He studied in London at the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, finishing with the concert diploma. Florian Uhlig made his orchestral debut at the Barbican Arts Centre in London in 1997. Graham Waterhouse is an English composer and cellist. For his own instrument, he composed a cello concerto and Three Pieces for Solo Cello. He has set poetry for speaking voice and cello, such as Der Handschuh, and has composed song cycles. Byron Schenkman is an American harpsichordist, pianist, music director, and educator. Schenkman has recorded over 40 CDs and has won several awards and accolades. He co-founded the Seattle Baroque Orchestra, and was its artistic director. Schenkman currently directs a baroque and classical chamber music concert series, Byron Schenkman & Friends, and performs as a recitalist and concert soloist. He also performs with chamber music ensembles, and is a teacher and lecturer.
David Froom is an American composer and college professor. His music has been described as “intensely dramatic yet deeply formal,” "intellectually engaging, explosive with imagination and with a satisfying visceral power," balancing “diatonic pastoralism with acerbic angularity, Stravinskian rhythmic urgency with lyrical counterpoint.” Among his most critically acclaimed works are "Circling," Sonata for Solo Violin, 2nd Piano Trio, and Amichai Songs. Among his most frequently performed music is his saxophone music, which includes a saxophone quartet, "Flying High" for solo alto saxophone, "Turn of Events" for alto saxophone and piano, "Arirang Variations" for alto saxophone, bassoon, and piano, and "Before the Dawn" for alto saxophone and piano. He has also arranged his flute/clarinet duet, "Circling" for two saxophones. These, and all of his works, are published by the American Composers Alliance. Froom has taught at the University of Utah, the Peabody Institute and the University of Maryland, College Park. He has been on the faculty at St. Mary's College of Maryland since 1989. He has received awards and honors from the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Academy of Arts and Letters,, the Fromm Foundation at Harvard, the Koussevitzky Foundation of the Library of Congress, the Barlow Foundation, and is a five-time recipient of an Individual Artist Award from the State of Maryland.
Gregor Huebner is a violinist, pianist and composer. He performs solo and with several ensembles including El Violin Latino, Sirius Quartet, Berta Epple and Salsafuerte. From 1985 to 2012 he was a member of Tango Five. He is a guest professor of composition at the University for Music and Theater in Munich, Germany. In 2017 he received the Grand Prize for New York Philharmonic's New World Initiative Composition Challenge for his composition “New World, Nov 9. 2016.”
