The contemporaneous DownBeat reviewer described the album as "hearty, full-blowing jazz of the type now associated with this partnership of contrasting tenor styles". ^[3] The AllMusic review by Scott Yanow stated: "Easily recommended to straightahead jazz fans." ^[2]
