Hale & Iremonger is an Australian independent publisher. It was founded in 1977 by Sylvia Hale, John Iremonger and Roger Barnes. [1]

Contents

John left the company in 1980, moving to Allen & Unwin. [2] By 2002, when Sylvia became involved in NSW state politics, [3] some 500 books had been published on politics, urban history, women's studies and poetry. [1]

In 2010 Hale & Iremonger's list was bought by Michael Rakusin, formerly of Tower Books. [4]

The Bulletin was an Australian weekly magazine first published in Sydney on 31 January 1880. The publication's focus was politics and business, with some literary content, and editions were often accompanied by cartoons and other illustrations. John Kingsmill was an Australian author, actor and public speaker, and amateur social historian. He was born in Sydney in 1920 and educated at Sydney Boys High School. He was on active service in World War II, after which he completed his accountancy studies and was in practice for some years. He achieved notice for his performance as Des Nolan (Gig) in Rusty Bugles, the controversial 1948 play by Sumner Locke Elliott. In 1955, he was a founding member of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (Australia), and was its leader for several years, serving on its Board until 1984. During the 1970s he worked as a senior advertising copywriter at the George Patterson advertising agency Sydney office.

Rosemary de Brissac Dobson, AO was an Australian poet, who was also an illustrator, editor and anthologist. She published fourteen volumes of poetry, was published in almost every annual volume of Australian Poetry and has been translated into French and other languages.
