Limerick is a city in County Limerick, Ireland. It is located in the Mid-West Region and is also part of the province of Munster. With a population of 94,192 at the 2016 census, Limerick is the third-most populous urban area in the state, and the fourth-most populous city on the island of Ireland at the 2011 census. The city lies on the River Shannon, with the historic core of the city located on King's Island, which is bounded by the Shannon and Abbey Rivers. Limerick is also located at the head of the Shannon Estuary, where the river widens before it flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Limerick City and County Council is the local authority for the city.

The Shannon hydroelectric Scheme was a major development by the Irish Free State in the 1920s to harness the power of the River Shannon. Its product, the Ardnacrusha power plant, is a hydroelectric power station which is still producing power today and is located near Ardnacrusha within County Clare approximately 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) from the Limerick border. It is Ireland's largest river hydroelectric scheme and is operated on a purpose built headrace connected to the River Shannon. The plant includes fish ladders so that returning fish, such as salmon, can climb the river safely past the power station.

Mountshannon House was a large mansion in Lisnagry, near Castleconnell, County Limerick, built in the mid-18th century. It was the home of John FitzGibbon, 1st Earl of Clare. It was burnt down during the Anglo-Irish war in 1920. Today it is mostly a ruin.

Baron Bourke of Brittas, of the County of Limerick, was a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created on 17 February 1618 for Theobald Bourke. He was the son of Theobald Bourke, son of William Bourke, 1st Baron Bourke of Castleconnell and Lady Mary Burke. He was the younger brother of John Bourke, 2nd Baron Bourke of Castleconnell, and Richard Bourke, 3rd Baron Bourke of Castleconnell. The third Baron was attainted in 1691 and the title forfeited.

The 1910 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 19th staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887.
