The IT and Development Centre, Ministry of the Interior (Estonian : Siseministeeriumi infotehnoloogia- ja arenduskeskus, SMIT) is an Estonian government agency under the Ministry of the Interior responsible for providing the developing ICT services mainly to Police and Border Guard Board, Estonian Rescue Board, Estonian Emergency Response Centre, Estonian Academy of Security Sciences and the Ministry of the Interior.

Estonian Rescue Board


The Estonian Rescue Board is a government agency under the Ministry of the Interior of Estonia. It is tasked with maintaining a secure environment in Estonia, anticipating threats and helping people in the event of an accident. Its mission is to prevent accidents, save lives, property, and the environment. The organization provides a large number of services, including emergency response, firefighting, oil pollution removal, explosive ordnance disposal, chemical and radiation hazard elimination, water rescue etc.

Estonian Border Guard

The Estonian Border Guard was the national security agency responsible for the border security of Estonia. It was subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior. The Border Guard also assisted with Search and Rescue missions. In 2010, the organization was superseded by the Police and Border Guard Board.

Ministry of the Interior (Lithuania)

Its objective is to ensure a secure state and stable development, and to contribute to the security of the European Union. It was established on 15 April 1992 and is based in Tallinn. It has facilities in Pärnu County, Väike-Maarja Parish, Narva and Meriküla.

Ministry of Public Safety and Security Former organization of the national government of South Korea

The Ministry of Public Safety and Security was an organization of the national government of South Korea with the responsibility of public safety and security. It was established on November 19, 2014 with a merger of the National Emergency Management Agency, Korea Coast Guard, a branch of Safety of Ministry of Security and Public Administration to prevent and efficiently respond to national disasters. It has its headquarters in the Seoul Government Complex.
