Inside Asia

Inside Asia was a weekly, 30-minute feature program on CNN International in the late 1990s the focused on current events, trends, culture and entertainment in Asia. During its first few years, the program was hosted by CNN Hong Kong anchor Patricia Chew, and included reports from CNN correspondents throughout Asia.

CNN International, is an international pay television channel that is operated by CNN. CNN International carries news-related programming worldwide; it cooperates with parent network CNN's national and international news bureaus.Unlike its sister channel, CNN, a US-only subscription service which is mostly broadcast from CNN studios in New York City and Atlanta, CNN International is carried on a variety of TV platforms across the world, and mostly broadcast from studios outside the US, in London, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi. In some countries, it is available as a free-to-air network. The service is aimed at the overseas market, similar to BBC World, France 24, DW, RT, CGTN, NHK World or Al Jazeera.

Patricia Chew was the first anchor from CNN's Hong Kong production facility in 1995. Prior to joining CNN International, Chew worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). In addition to hosting World News Asia, Chew was also host of CNN International's weekly feature program, Inside Asia, about current events, lifestyles and entertainment throughout Asia.

Its success resulted in the creation of additional "Inside" programs at CNN International - Inside Africa and Inside the Middle East.

Richard Lui is an American journalist and news anchor for MSNBC and NBC News. Lui anchors Early Today on NBC and is a dayside anchor for MSNBC at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. He was formerly at CNN Worldwide. At CNN Worldwide he became the first Asian American male to anchor a daily, national cable news show when he solo anchored the 10 a.m. hour on CNN Headline News. Mediaite ranked Lui among the top 100 in news buzz on its "Power Grid Influence Index of TV Anchors and Hosts" and one of "The 50 Sexiest in TV News".

<i>CNN Newsroom</i> (International TV program)

CNN Newsroom is the main newscast program airing on CNN International, from Atlanta, London, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. The show airs Mondays to Fridays in two parts, midnight to 4:30am and 5am to 5:30am U.S. Eastern Time, alongside various timeslots during weekends. It is also simulcast on CNN/U.S. every Monday from 2am to 4am and on weekends from 4am to 6am Eastern Time. The weekday edition's first hour is simulcast Mondays to Fridays from 1pm to 2pm PST on CNN Philippines. In Hong Kong, it will be a 30-minute simulcast Mondays to Fridays from 1pm to 1:30pm HKT and Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 12:30pm and 5pm to 5:30pm HKT on ViuTVsix.

Cal Perry American journalist

Cal Perry is a broadcast journalist, currently working for MSNBC. Previously worked at Voice of America in a senior role and briefly at Al Jazeera English. Before joining Al Jazeera he worked for many years with CNN, mostly in the Middle East. During this time, he served as: Bureau Chief in Baghdad, Iraq (2005-2007), Bureau Chief in Beirut, Lebanon. From these bases, he also covered the wars in Lebanon (2006), Georgia (2008) and Pakistan (2008), plus the aftermath of the devastating cyclone in Bangladesh, in 2007.

Ash-har Quraishi is an American broadcast journalist and reporter for WMAQ-TV in Chicago. He was previously the chief Midwest correspondent for now-defunct Al Jazeera America at its Chicago Bureau. He has served as CNN's bureau chief in Islamabad and was listed in a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union against the National Security Agency. He later worked for WTTW-TV in Chicago and for the Chicago News Cooperative. His family roots are in the India.
