Konak (Turkish : konak) is a name for a house in Turkey and on the territories of the former Ottoman Empire, especially one used as an official residence.

Amidža Konak is a 19th-century residence of Turkish-style architecture located in the old part of the city of Kragujevac in central Serbia. It was built in 1819-1824 by Serbian Prince Miloš Obrenović, and it was named after Sima Milosavljević-Paštrmac, called Amidža, a Serbian hajduk and staff member of the court of Obrenović. Only Amidža Konak remained from large complex of building that existed during Miloš Obrenović time. Nearby, Miloš's Konak existed, and it was destroyed in 1941, during World War II, and also, Princess Ljubica Konak, that burned down in 1884.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Konak, İzmir</span> Metropolitan in Aegean, Turkey

Konak is a district of İzmir Province in Turkey. It is the most densely populated of the eleven main urban districts of İzmir, and has historically acted as the administrative and economic core of the city. Situated in an area that roughly corresponds to the geographic center of İzmir, Konak extends for 11.4 kilometres along the southern coastline of the Gulf of İzmir. A long panhandle that the district area draws in the direction of the southwest, on the other hand, also covers a large rural area, mostly covered with mountains and forests, and two isolated villages. Konak district area neighbors the district areas of Bornova to the east, Balçova to the west and Buca and Gaziemir to the south, all of which are also among İzmir's metropolitan districts. Konak center is connected to other districts of İzmir and beyond by a dense network of roads and railroads, as well as by a subway line currently being largely extended and by ferry services to Karşıyaka. Konak is a very active hub of industry, trade, commerce and services, with the number of companies exceeding sixty thousand and its exports nearing two billion US Dollars in 2006.

Güzelbahçe is a coastal district of İzmir Province in Turkey. Until 2009 Local Government Elections, Greater İzmir Municipality had 9 district (second-tier) municipalities and Güzelbahçe was one of the smallest district municipality in terms of land area and population. With March 2009 Local Elections, İzmir Greater (Metropolitan) Municipality now have 21 district municipalities, since new municipalities had established due to high population of some major second-tier municipalities like Karşıyaka and Konak. Now, İzmir Greater (Metropolitan) Municipality has several smaller municipalities in terms of land area coverage, however, Güzelbahçe still remains as the smallest municipality within the metropolitan area in terms of population. March 2009 Local Elections of Turkey has also resulted of mergers of villages and town municipalities with their respective second-tier / district municipalities in all greater municipalities. Therefore, parallel to this regulation and changes, Yelki town municipality and Çamlık Villages become part of Güzelbahçe Municipality in 2009. Although the population of Güzelbahçe Municipality increased little, the land area increased greatly. The population and land borders of Güzelbahçe County/District however remained same. Güzelbahçe is part of the İzmir Greater (Metropolitan) Area and Municipality since the establishment of İzmir Greater Municipality in 1984. Although Güzelbahçe seems very urbanized at the rate of 82,7 percent, there are relatively remote villages in the Southern part of the Güzelbahçe Municipality. These villages, like Payamlı, Kavacık, are/were part of the Güzelbahçe County/District and famous with their delicious grapes grown on mostly steep hills and mountains. Vineyards during summer and autumns have worth to visits and grapes are definitely worth to taste due to natural growth. Grapes in the vineyards different due to lack of major irrigation or watering.

Şirinyer station is an underground railway station on the Southern Line of the İZBAN commuter rail system. The current station was built between 2006–09 and opened on 30 August 2010. The former station was opened in 1858 by the Ottoman Railway Company and was taken over by the Turkish State Railways in 1935. Before the 1950s, Şirinyer was known as Kızılçullu Durağı.

Konak is an underground station on the Fahrettin Altay—Evka 3 Line of the İzmir Metro in central Konak. Located just south of Konak Square, it is one of the ten original stations of the metro system. The architecture of the station consists of a main hall with a high ceiling, with mezzanines on both sides. The only other station to share this architecture is Çankaya. Connection to İzdeniz municipal ferries from Konak Terminal as well as ESHOT city bus service is available. Service began on 24 March 2018, connection to the Konak Tram also became possible via Konak İskele station. The northern mezzanine has exits to the Konak Ferry Terminal, Konak Square, while the southern mezzanine has exits to the Konak city bus stops, via an underpass beneath Halil Rıfat Paşa Avenue.

The Buca-Bornova Tunnel is the unofficial name of the 2.5-kilometre-long (1.6 mi) tunnel, currently under construction, in İzmir, Turkey. The tunnel is part of a 7-kilometre-long (4.3 mi) express route that will connect the İzmir Coach Terminal, in Bornova, to central Konak, via the Konak Tunnel. Once completed, the tunnel will become the longest tunnel in the İzmir Province and the 14th longest in Turkey. Work began on 12 March 2018 and the estimated construction cost is ₺184 million.
