The following is a list of Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's basketball head coaches. There have been 18 head coaches of the Fighting Irish in their 120-season history. [1]

Notre Dame's current head coach is Micah Shrewsberry. He was hired as the Fighting Irish's head coach in March 2023, [2] replacing Mike Brey, who stepped down after the 2022–23 season. [3]

The team returned three starters from the 2009-10 NCAA Tournament squad, having seen the graduation of long-time starters Luke Harangody and Tory Jackson. They finished the season 27–7, 14–4 in Big East play and lost in the semifinals of the 2011 Big East men's basketball tournament to Louisville. They received an at large bid to the 2011 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament where they defeated Akron in the second round before being upset by Florida State in the third round.

They finished the season 23–13, 10–10 in Big Ten play to finish in a tie for ninth place. They defeated Illinois, Northwestern, and Indiana to advance to the championship game of the Big Ten tournament. There they lost to Purdue. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2011 as the No. 10 seed in the Midwest region. They defeated Texas A&M in the first round of the tournament, marking their first tournament win since 2001, before losing to Texas in the second round.

They were led first-year head coach Mike Rhoades, and played their home games at Bryce Jordan Center located in University Park, Pennsylvania as members of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 16–17, 9–11 in Big Ten play to finish in a three-way tie for 10th place. As the No. 11 seed in the Big Ten tournament, they defeated Michigan in the first round before losing to Indiana in the second round.

The team was led by head coach Micah Shrewsberry in his first season as head coach and played home games at the on-campus Joyce Center as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

The 2023–24 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball season will begin with practices in October 2023, followed by the start of the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play will begin in December 2023 and conclude on March 9, 2024, with the 2024 ACC men's basketball tournament at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.. This will be the 70th season of Atlantic Coast Conference basketball.
