Lokomotif (or Locomotif) is a Turkish band that represented Turkey (along with Seyyal Taner) in the Eurovision Song Contest 1987 with the song "Şarkım Sevgi Üstüne" (English: My Song Is About Love). They failed to score any points and finished last. [1]

Eurovision Song Contest 1987 song contest

The Eurovision Song Contest 1987 was the 32nd Eurovision Song Contest and was held on 9 May 1987 in Brussels, Belgium after Sandra Kim's win the previous year. The presenter was Viktor Lazlo. She agreed to present the Eurovision Song Contest, on the condition she was allowed to open with a song of her own, "Breathless". Johnny Logan was the winner for Ireland with his own composition "Hold Me Now". That made him the first performer to win the contest twice, as he had won also in 1980.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was the 49th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Istanbul, Turkey, following Sertab Erener's win at the 2003 contest in Riga, Latvia with the song "Everyway That I Can" – marking the country's first victory in the contest. The national broadcaster Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), staged the event at the Abdi İpekçi Arena on 12 and 15 May 2004.

Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest

Turkey has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 34 times since making its debut in 1975. Since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004, the only year that Turkey participated and failed to advance to the final was in 2011. Turkey has won the contest once, in 2003 and hosted the 2004 contest in Istanbul.

Turkey took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with Sibel Tüzün. There was no Turkish National Final in 2006. Instead, TRT decided to send Sibel Tüzün to represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens with the song "Süper Star" which is written and composed by her. TRT presented the song that Sibel will sing in a special televised press conference, and presented the video clip which involves Sibel wearing a red hat with the Turkish flag on it. The song features a combination of a disco theme with oriental elements.

Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007

Turkey took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with Kenan Doğulu. Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu (TRT) chose him in December 2006, as the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, which took place in Helsinki in May 2007.

Turkey took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with Athena. There was national final to select song in 2004. Instead, TRT chose Athena to represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Istanbul with the song "For Real".

Turkey took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with Sertab Erener. There was no Turkish National Final in 2003. Instead, TRT decided to send Sertab Erener to Riga to represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003. Sertab Erener is well known in her own country. Four songs were sung by Sertab, of which, one was chosen to go to Riga 2003: "Everyway That I Can".

Elnur Hüseynov Azerbaijani singer

Elnur Hüseynov is an Azerbaijani singer. He was Azerbaijan's representative to perform "Day After Day" at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 alongside Samir Javadzadeh as duo Elnur and Samir. In 2015, he won the fourth season of The Voice of Turkey and represented Azerbaijan in the 60th Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Hour of the Wolf".

Nilüfer - Grup Nazar was a Turkish band that entered the Eurovision Song Contest 1978. The band included Olcayto Ahmet Tuğsuz who went on to compose Turkey's Eurovision entries in 1982 and 1987 and San Marino's entry in 2016. Their song "Sevince", written by Dağhan Baydur and H. Aktunç came a clear first at the Turkish TV contest, finished at 18th of 20 with only 2 points. The B-side was "Darling", also written by Baydur. Dağhan Baydur would later (1999) produce the Turkish-language Beatles cover album Beatles Alaturca with Fuat Güner of MFÖ and Erdal Kızılçay.

Ellinikós Telikós is a song contest which takes place every year in Athens, Greece. This contest decides who will represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest. The contest started in 1979, when Elpida took the title. Until 2001, Greece introduced the televoting and jury to decide for the singer and for the song which will represent Greece in the Contest. Over the years, the contest takes place in various venues, from TV studios to concert halls. The most famous winners include Helena Paparizou, Kalomira, Sakis Rouvas, Anna Vissi, & Katy Garbi.
