Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies is an animated educational wildlife children's television series. The live action footage comes from the BBC Natural History Unit archives, as well as the National Geographic Society. The series originally aired on CBeebies in the UK and was created by Douglas Wood, who is also the author of the companion children's picture book When Mama Mirabelle Comes Home, published by National Geographic Books. A total of 52 episodes were produced; in the United States, they were packaged as 26 half-hours. [1]

In the American version, all of the animals except Karla and Bo have American voices. Vanessa Williams is the voice of Mama Mirabelle in the US, and Floella Benjamin is the voice for Mama Mirabelle in the UK.

The series is produced by UK animation studio King Rollo Films, whose other shows include The Adventures of Spot , Discovery Kids' Paz , the Nick Jr. block and Noggin's Maisy , Sprout's Poppy Cat and Mr. Benn . The show's opening theme was written by Lester Barnes (the composer for Horrid Henry , Me Too! , Paz and Urmel ).

Plot

Set in the African savanna, it focuses on an enthusiastic elephant named Mama Mirabelle, who travels around the world to film real wildlife footage and project them onto a screen of fireflies in front of almost the entire animal kingdom. The "Home Movies" are used for educational purposes not only for the main young characters but for the preschool audience at home.

Floella Karen Yunies Benjamin, Baroness Benjamin, is a Trinidadian-British actress, singer, presenter, author and politician. She is known as presenter of children's programmes such as Play School, Play Away, Jamboree and Fast Forward. On 28 June 2010, Lady Benjamin was introduced to the House of Lords as a life peer nominated by the Liberal Democrats. In 2024, she was honored with the BAFTA Fellowship award for her services to television.

Created by Jean de Brunhoff between 1931 and 1937, Babar's Kingdom, also known as the Elephant Country, is a fictional country supposedly in West Africa with French characteristics that is composed of elephants and other animals, which are usually bipedal and "civilized". Llama Llama is a children's animated television series that premiered on January 26, 2018, on Netflix. Co-produced by Genius Brands and Telegael Teoranta and based on the books by Anna Dewdney, the series follows an anthropomorphic llama named Llama Llama living with his Mama Llama in a town that is run by anthropomorphic animals where he learns about fun, friendship and new things. The series was produced by Reed Duncan, Dewdney's longtime partner, doing so in tribute to her. The series had been renewed for a second season, which was released on November 15, 2019.

Leo the Lion is a 2005 Italian animated adventure musical film directed by Mario Cambi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Pierstefano Marangoni. It stars Neri Marcorè, Leo Gullotta and Carlo Conti. The film follows Leo, a lion who exhibits a vegetarian diet which causes him to be an outcast among his pride, so he sets off on a journey to find the "Heart of the Jungle", a place that Leo's deceased mother to him to go to, with his friend Uncle Lope and a couple of baby elephants tagging along with him.
