She became better known when she played the lead role in a play written by Herman van Veen: De Spinse (1973). She appeared in the movies Uit elkaar (1979) and Ik ben Joep Meloen (1981), as well as the television series Pommetje Horlepiep (1976) and De Fabriek (1981). On 19 April 1980, Fluitsma presented the Eurovision Song Contest in the Congresgebouw in The Hague.
From 1990 until the end of 1991, she played "Helen Helmink" in the soap opera Goede tijden, slechte tijden. When she indicated she wanted to spend more time with her family, she was replaced by Bruni Heinke. It was the first time a recast had ever happened in Dutch soap opera. While on Goede tijden, slechte tijden, she played Eliza Zadelhof on the series Diamant (1990) and also appeared in Ernstige Delicten.

Anthonie Willem Constantijn Gneomar "Antonie" Kamerling was a Dutch actor and singer. He was member of the original cast of the Dutch soap opera Goede tijden, slechte tijden. He played in the films The Little Blonde Death (1993), All Stars (1997), and I Love You Too (2001). He also had starring roles in Dutch musical productions. He has become the voice of Geoff from Total Drama in the Dutch version of the series. Antonie Kamerling committed suicide in 2010.
Goede tijden, slechte tijden, also known as GTST or simply Goede tijden, is the longest-running Dutch soap opera, which began on 1 October 1990 on RTL4. The programme was the first daily soap in the Netherlands and Europe. The soap is produced by Joop van den Ende and to date over 6,300 episodes have been broadcast. It was inspired by the Australian soap The Restless Years, although it started following its own course during the third season. GTST is broadcast Monday to Friday at 20:00. At its peak, around 1.5 million viewers watched each episode. Nowadays, the show is watched linearly by a total of 800.000 viewers, with an additional 300.000 viewers on streaming platform Videoland. It is the highest-rated soap opera in the Netherlands.
