Modderspruit is a town in Bojanala District Municipality in the North West province of South Africa.

North West is a province of South Africa. Its capital is Mahikeng. Klerksdorp is the largest city in the province. The province is located to the west of the major population centre of Gauteng.

His best known work De held van Spionkop (1901) told the story of the real Louis Wessels, leader of the Boer commandos at the Battle of Spion Kop.
