The National Confederation of the Trade-Union Organizations of Ukraine (NKPU) is a national trade union center in Ukraine. It was founded November 26, 2004 and claims a membership of 1.5 million.

The NKPU was formed as a breakaway union from the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine.

General Confederation of Trade Unions


The General Confederation of Trade Unions or GCTU is an international trade union confederation. It was founded on 16 April 1992 and incorporates members from the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The General Labour Federation of Belgium is a socialist national trade union federation in Belgium. It was founded in 1945. It is affiliated with the International Trade Union Confederation and has a membership of 1.5 million. With said membership the ABVV/FGTB is the second largest of the three major trade unions in Belgium, closely following the Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (ACV/CSC) which has 1.6 million members and dwarfing the General Confederation of Liberal Trade Unions of Belgium (ACLVB/CGSLB) which has approximately 300,000 members. During the bulk of its history the ABVV/FGTB remained closely affiliated with the Belgian Socialist Party which was split in 1978 into a Flemish and a Walloon social-democratic party. While remaining formally independent from any political party, the ABVV/FGTB noticed the increasing influence by the marxist Workers' Party of Belgium amongst its active base during the last decade.

Botswana Federation of Trade Unions


The Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) is the national trade union federation for Botswana. Founded in 1977, it represents over 90% of all trade unions in the country, including all major unions. The BFTU is currently undertaking a reorganization which will see its 25 affiliates merged and reduced in numbers to 13.

International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions


The International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions is the international representation of trade unions in a number of Arab nations.

The National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova is the sole national trade union center in the country, consisting of 25 federated members. It was founded in June 2007 as a merger between the Confederation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Moldova (CSRM) and the Confederation of Free Trade Unions Moldova (Solidarity).


The Pakistan Workers' Federation (PWF) is a national trade union centre in Pakistan. It is the largest labour organisation in the country and its affiliated unions are among the oldest. The centre itself was created in 1994 through a merger of three former national centres. It is independent and non-political. Internationally, it is affiliated with ITUC.

General Federation of Trade Unions (Syria) Syrian national trade union center

The General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) is the sole national trade union center in Syria, it was founded in 1948. By a 1968 decree establishing a single-trade-union system, all trade unions in the country are required to be affiliated to the GFTU, and the GFTU has the power to dissolve the executive committee of any union.

Taiwan Confederation of Trade Unions

The Taiwan Confederation of Trade Unions is a national trade union center in Taiwan. It was established in 1997, but did not receive official recognition from the government until May 1, 2000.


The Chinese Federation of Labor (CFL) is a national trade union center in the Republic of China. It was founded in 1948 in mainland China, and until the government recognition of the Taiwan Confederation of Trade Unions in 2000, was the sole official labor confederation in the RoC.


The Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine (KVPU) is a national trade union center in Ukraine. It is affiliated with the International Trade Union Confederation.

Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine

The Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine is an all-Ukrainian voluntary association of trade unions. It is the largest trade union confederation in Ukraine, with more than 4.8 million members. As of 1 August 2019, 44 national trade unions and 27 regional trade unions were affiliated to the FPU.

The Ministry of Labor announced on 19 September 2008 that as of December 2007, 10.8% of workers were in trade unions in South Korea, a 0.5% increase from 10.3% in 2006. Korea's unionization rate peaked in 1989 at 19.8% and fell to 10% 2004.

The World Organization of Workers (WOW) is an international trade union federation.

Trade unions in Norway first emerged with the efforts of Marcus Thrane and the formation of the Drammen Labour Union in 1848 which organised agricultural workers and crofters. However, with Thrane's imprisonment and the suppression of the union in 1855, it was not until 1872 before a union was founded again, by print workers. In 1899 the first national federation, the LO, was founded. During this period interactions with trade unions in Denmark and Sweden played a great influence over the development of trade unions in Norway.
