Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH (ODEG; literally "East German Railway") is a joint venture, founded in June 2002, of the Prignitzer Eisenbahn (part of the Netinera Group) and BeNEX, with each company owning 50% of the joint venture. It operates passenger services on eleven railway lines in Berlin/Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.

The Siemens Desiro is a family of diesel or electric multiple unit passenger trains developed by Siemens Mobility, a division of the German Siemens AG conglomerate. The main variants are the Desiro Classic, Desiro ML, Desiro UK and the later Desiro City, Desiro HC and Desiro RUS. The trains are mostly used for commuter and regional services, and their rapid acceleration makes them suitable for services with short distances between stations. The design is flexible, and has become common in many European countries.

Die Länderbahn GmbH (DLB), formerly Vogtlandbahn GmbH, is a German rail transport company based in Viechtach, operating transport services originally only in the Vogtland, but now also on a regional basis. Die Länderbahn is a subsidiary of Regentalbahn AG, which is owned by Ferrovie dello Stato subsidiary Netinera. The term vogtlandbahn remains in use as a trademark of Die Länderbahn in Vogtland.

The Stadler KISS is a family of bilevel electric multiple unit commuter trains developed and built since 2008 by Stadler Rail of Switzerland. As of 2016, 242 KISS trainsets comprising 1,145 cars have been sold to operators in eleven countries. Boarding is done into the lower deck.
The Rhein-Sieg-Eisenbahn or RSE is a German company founded by the Verkehrsclub Deutschland and interested private individuals with the primary purpose of saving a threatened industrial line, the Beuel–Großenbusch railway.
The Mecklenburg Southern Railway or Parchim–Neubrandenburg railway is a railway line in the south of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in North Germany. It was operated by the Mecklenburg Southern Railway Company which transferred in 1885 into the Friedrich Franz Railway Company. Today the section from Möllenhagen to Neubrandenburg is closed, whilst the remaining section is owned by the DB Netz. The section from Karow (Meckl) to Waren (Müritz) was leased by the DB to the Prignitzer Eisenbahn on 1 March 2008. Passenger services on the (Ludwigslust–)Parchim–Waren(–Neustrelitz) stretch are provided by the Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn (ODEG) and goods services on the sections from Waren to Malchow (Meck.) and Möllenhagen are delivered mainly by DB Schenker Rail Deutschland.

The Rhein Weser Express is a Regional-Express service route in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, connecting some of the most important cities in Westphalia with the Ruhr. Cologne, Neuss, Düsseldorf and Duisburg lie on the Rhine while Minden lies on the Weser.
Bergen auf Rügen is a railway station in the town of Bergen auf Rügen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The station lies on the Stralsund-Sassnitz railway and Bergen auf Rügen–Lauterbach Mole railway and was opened in 1883. The train services are operated by Deutsche Bahn Fernverkehr, Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH, Pressnitztalbahn and Hanseatische Eisenbahn. The narrow gauge line to Altenkirchen was closed in 1970.
The Bergen auf Rügen–Lauterbach Mole railway is a single-track branch line on the German island of Rügen in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The Stralsund–Rostock railway connects the two Hanseatic cities in the north of the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The single-track electrified main line is part of the German Unity Transport Project No. 1 (Lübeck–Rostock–Stralsund).
The Halle–Cottbus railway is a 176 km long double-track electrified main line in the German states of Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Brandenburg. It was opened in 1871 and 1872. It formed the central section of the network of the Halle-Sorau-Guben Railway Company. Today it is part of a connection between the Central Germany and Poland.
The Jüterbog–Nauen railway is a line that runs to the west of Berlin through the German state of Brandenburg. It runs from Jüterbog via Treuenbrietzen, Beelitz, Potsdam, Wustermark to Nauen. The line is a part of the Bypass Railway (Umgehungsbahn), which was primarily designed to relieve congestion on the railways in Berlin. The Wustermark–Nauen section has been closed, the Golm–Priort section is now a part of the Berlin outer ring and has been rebuilt as a double-track main line.

The Schönebeck–Güsten railway is a railway in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. The line is, with the exception of the Schönebeck (Elbe)–Schönebeck-Salzelmen section, single track and not electrified.
