Samuel Stephens (died 1794) was a politician and MP for St. Ives between 1752 and 1754. He was responsible for the building of Tregenna Castle.

In June 1762 he married Anne, the only child and heiress of Richard Seaborne of Hereford. He had a son, Samuel, who later also became MP for St. Ives.

The St Ives by-election, 1937 was a by-election held in England on 30 June 1937 for the House of Commons constituency of St Ives in Cornwall.

The St Ives by-election of 1875 was fought on 5 March 1875. The by-election was caused by the previous by-election being declared void on petition, on grounds of "general treating". It was retained by Conservative MP, Charles Praed.

The St Ives by-election of 1874 was fought on 28 December 1874. The byelection was fought due to the death of the incumbent Conservative MP, Edward Davenport. It was won by the Conservative candidate Charles Praed who received 617 votes against Liberal candidate Sir Francis Lycett's 552 votes. During the election, the town held a holiday, with shops closed and ships not leaving harbour.

Sir Edward Hain, was an English shipping magnate and politician from Cornwall, England. He represented St Ives as a Liberal Unionist from 1900 to 1904, and as a Liberal from 1904 to 1906. His shipping company, Hain Line, was sold to the recently merged Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company and British-India Steam Navigation Company after his death.
