The American Birkebeiner is the largest cross-country ski race in North America, and one of the longest. It debuted in 1973 and was a founding member of the Worldloppet federation of cross-country ski marathons. The two premier events are the 50 km (31 mi) freestyle and the 55 km (34 mi) classic races from Cable to Hayward, Wisconsin. Each year more than 10,000 skiers participate in the Birkie, 29 km Kortelopet, and 15 km Prince Haakon events. The 44th Birkie was held on February 24, 2018.
The Kangaroo Hoppet is a long distance cross-country skiing race in Australia. It is held in Falls Creek, Victoria. It debuted in 1979, and is part of Worldloppet since 1991. It is held annually on the fourth Saturday of August.

Finlandia-hiihto is a long-distance cross-country skiing competition, held in Finland each February. Initially, the track stretched from Hämeenlinna to Lahti via Lammi. Since the original course went across several lakes and the ice quality varied from winter to winter, the race was later moved to a location near Lahti.
Eva Vrabcová-Nývltová is a Czech cross country skier and marathon runner. She has competed at the top-level since 2005 in cross-country skiing. Competing in two Winter Olympics, she earned her best finish of 13th in the 4 x 5 km relay at Vancouver in 2010 while earning her best individual finish of 33rd in the individual sprint event at those same games.
Daniel Tynell is a Swedish retired cross-country skier who won the ski marathon Vasaloppet three times, in 2002, 2006 and 2009, and came in second in the 2010, 2011 och 2013 marathons. Tynell also won the König Ludwig Lauf, an event that is part of Worldloppet Ski Federation, twice. He represented the ski club Grycksbo IF.
The Jizerská padesátka is a 50 kilometres long cross-country ski race which is held every year in the Jizera Mountains, Czech Republic. It debuted in 1968 became part of Worldloppet in the year 2000.
The Fossavatn Ski Marathon is an annual ski marathon held in Ísafjörður, northwestern Iceland, and is part of Worldloppet since 2014.
The Engadin Skimarathon is an annual cross-country ski race held on the second Sunday of March in the upper Engadine valley (Switzerland), between Maloja and S-chanf. It debuted in 1969 and has been a part of Worldloppet as long as Worldloppet has existed. It is one of the major cross-country skiing events in the Alps. Between 11,000 and 13,000 skiers participate each year. The total distance covered is 42 km, although it is also possible to complete the half-marathon of 21 km or the 17 km Women's Race. While it is a freestyle race, there are separate tracks for skiers practicing classic style for all but the narrowest parts of the race. Participation is open to anyone from the age of 16, and no licence is required to sign up.
König Ludwig Lauf is a long distance cross-country ski race, that takes places in Germany, and is part of the international long distance cup Ski Classics and the Worldloppet series. The race is over distances of 50 km and 23 km in both classical and free technique.
Tartu Ski Marathon is a long-distance cross-country skiing competition, held annually in Estonia, on third Sunday of February. It debuted in 1960 and has been a part of Worldloppet since 1994.
The Transjurassienne is an annual cross-country ski race held on the second Weekend of February between Lamoura and Mouthe in the French Jura mountains. It debuted in 1980 and has been a part of Worldloppet since 1981. It is also part of the FIS Marathon Cup and the biggest cross-country skiing event in France. More than 4,000 skiers participate over the two days each year. Saturday is devoted to classic-style with races taking place over 25 km and 50 km. The main race takes place on Sunday - the 76 km long Tranjurassienne in skating-style - the longest skating race on the Worldloppet tour. Shorter races over 57 km and 25 km are also offered. Participation is open to anyone from the age of 16, and while no licence is required to sign up, the organisers demand a medical certificate to demonstrate the ability to take part in a long-distance skiing event.

The Gatineau Loppet, earlier known as Rivière Rouge, Gatineau 55 and Keskinada Loppet, is a cross-country skiing marathon in Canada. It is usually held in February outside Gatineau in the Québec Province. It has been held since 1979, and has been part of Worldloppet since then.
The Ushuaia Loppet is a cross-country skiing marathon in Argentina. It has been held since 1986.
The Bieg Piastów is a cross-country skiing marathon in Poland. It has been held since 1976. and is part of Worldloppet since 2008.
The Demino Ski Marathon is a cross-country skiing marathon in Russia. It has been held since 2007 and was appointed as a Worldloppet event in June 2012. It is the most popular ski race in Russia.
The Merino Muster is a cross-country skiing marathon in the South Island of New Zealand. It has been held since 1995 and is part of Worldloppet since 2014.
