Spicebird was a personal information manager based on Mozilla Thunderbird's code developed by an Indian company called Synovel. It was free and open source software.

A personal information manager is a type of application software that functions as a personal organizer. The acronym PIM is now, more commonly, used in reference to personal information management as a field of study. As an information management tool, a PIM tool's purpose is to facilitate the recording, tracking, and management of certain types of "personal information".

Mozilla Thunderbird is a free and open-source cross-platform email client, news client, RSS and chat client developed by the Mozilla Foundation. The project strategy was modeled after that of the Mozilla Firefox web browser. It is installed by default on Ubuntu desktop systems.

It provided e-mail, calendaring and instant messaging. It could be used for personal or office use to access email, calendar information and various instant messaging (or chat) accounts. The integrated instant messenger could connect to GTalk, Yahoo!, AIM, ICQ, XMPP and various other servers and protocols. It had a dashboard that provided gadgets for showing information such as new emails, schedule for the day and many more. iGoogle gadgets could also be added to the dashboard.

Instant messaging (IM) technology is a type of online chat that offers real-time text transmission over the Internet. A LAN messenger operates in a similar way over a local area network. Short messages are typically transmitted between two parties, when each user chooses to complete a thought and select "send". Some IM applications can use push technology to provide real-time text, which transmits messages character by character, as they are composed. More advanced instant messaging can add file transfer, clickable hyperlinks, Voice over IP, or video chat.

iGoogle customizable start page or personal web portal by Google

iGoogle was a customizable Ajax-based start page or personal web portal launched by Google in May 2005. It was discontinued on November 1, 2013 because the company believed the need for it had eroded over time. As of 17 October 2007, Google had made the service available in many localized versions in 42 languages, and in over 70 country domain-names. In February 2007, 7.1 million people used iGoogle. In April 2008, 20% of all visits to Google's homepage used iGoogle. On July 3, 2012 Google announced iGoogle would be discontinued on November 1, 2013.

Apache Wave

Apache Wave was a software framework for real-time collaborative editing online. Google originally developed it as Google Wave. It was announced at the Google I/O conference on May 27, 2009.

Raindrop is a messaging application building on Apache's CouchDB which is used through a web interface. Raindrop works by collecting messages and storing them as JSON optionally with attachments in CouchDB. They are then served to users with CouchDB's webserver so users can view them in their web browsers. By December 2009 there was a prototype for testers but no official stable release.

The operating system is developed by the E Foundation, which was founded by Gaël Duval. /e/ is marketed as privacy software and does not contain proprietary Google apps or services.
