Kruger National Park is a South African National Park and one of the largest game reserves in Africa. It covers an area of 19,623 km2 (7,576 sq mi) in the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga in northeastern South Africa, and extends 360 km (220 mi) from north to south and 65 km (40 mi) from east to west. The administrative headquarters are in Skukuza. Areas of the park were first protected by the government of the South African Republic in 1898, and it became South Africa's first national park in 1926.
Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife is a governmental organisation responsible for maintaining wildlife conservation areas and biodiversity in KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa. Their headquarters is in Queen Elizabeth Park situated on the northern slopes of Pietermaritzburg, the KwaZulu-Natal provincial capital. Prior to 1994, it was known as the Natal Parks Board.
The Selous Game Reserve, now renamed as Nyerere National Park, is a protected area in southern Tanzania. It covers a total area of 50,000 km2 (19,000 sq mi) and has additional buffer zones. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 due to its wildlife diversity and undisturbed nature. Some of the diverse wildlife of the miombo include the African bush elephant, south-central black rhinoceros, hippopotamus, lion, African wild dog, African buffalo, Masai giraffe, Plains zebra and Nile crocodile. Permanent human habitation is not permitted within the reserve. All human entry and exit is controlled by the Wildlife Division of the Tanzanian Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.

Aloe Ridge Game Reserve is a game reserve and conservation park in central Gauteng province in north-east South Africa, lying some 15 kilometres directly north-east of the Sterkfontein caves. Located near Mulder's Drift it protects white rhino, buffalo, hippo, and many antelope and rare bird species. The reserve also has a Zulu craft centre and is open to tourists.
Mala Mala is a game reserve located within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Mpumalanga province, South Africa. It is the largest and the oldest private big five game reserve in South Africa, It covers around 130 km2 or 15 000 hectares of land. In Xitsonga, the name Malamala means Kudu, it was named so because of the abundance of these animals within the game reserve. The Tsonga people, who occupied the land before the establishment of the game reserve, were forcibly removed from this land during the early 1900s and were dumped at Bushbuckridge. The Nwandlamhlarhi Community successfully claimed Malamala game reserve and the land was restored to them in 2015 when President Jacob Zuma handed them their land in a Government ceremony. The Tsonga people were also forcibly removed from neighbouring game reserves such as Skukuza, Satara, Ulusaba, Manyeleti, Protea Hotel Kruger Gate, Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge and may more in Southern Kruger. The Tsonga people are still waiting to be given back these lands by the Government after the finalization of their land claim.

It is named for Daniel Thomas du Plessis Viljoen (1892–1972), the South African administrator of South West Africa from 1953 to 1963.

Krugersdorp Game Reserve is a 1500 Ha Game Reserve, located near the town of Krugersdorp, South Africa, approximately 40 minutes drive from central Johannesburg. It is a "small, intimate reserve that offers visitors a true African safari experience.... without the hassle of travelling to a major reserve houses 15 mammal species, including one of the “Big Five”, while lions are kept in a special 100ha enclosure in the middle of the reserve. The reserve is also popular for bird watching, and more than 200 species that have been recorded there; Guests can travel the park in vehicles or on horseback.
Mpanga-Kipengere Game Reserve is a protected area in Njombe Region of the Southern Highlands, Tanzania. It covers an area of 1,574 km2 (608 sq mi) and ranges in elevation from 1,800 to 2,289 m. In addition to the preservation of wildlife the reserve is an important catchment for the headwaters of several rivers that feed into the Great Ruaha River and provide water for the Usangu wetlands.
The Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is a privately owned game reserve in the Northern Cape, South Africa. It is South Africa's largest private game reserve, covering an area of over 111,000 hectares.
