The Naked Brothers Band: Music from the Movie is an EP/soundtrack by The Naked Brothers Band for The Naked Brothers Band: The Movie . It was released as an extra disc on the Naked Brothers Band Movie DVD. The disc was only available with the DVD for a short time only and now is only available to buy on Amazon. It was not an official release and has not yet been released separately, or on The iTunes Store. The first single "Crazy Car" charted on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2007 at No. 83.

The Naked Brothers Band is a 2005 American children's film written and directed by Polly Draper, which stars her sons, Nat Wolff and Alex Wolff, who portray members of a fictional rock group. It tells of the boys' struggles with their fame and an internal dispute that causes the band to split before reuniting in the end. The film is emboldened by Nat's real life band, The Silver Boulders, which he created in preschool with his friends who all portray themselves. It also includes the band's faux manager, Nat's fictional female interest, the siblings' real life cousin as the group's babysitter, and the siblings' genuine father playing their widowed accordion-playing dad.

Background

Development

Nat begged his dad to record music in the recording studio at the early age of 6. His father, Michael Wolff allowed him to, so Nat recorded the song Crazy Car. Polly Draper (Nat & Alex's mom), then wrote a film about her son's band The Naked Brothers Band. Along with the film she wanted her sons to record songs, as if it they were recording a soundtrack for the film.

Michael Blieden Wolff is an American jazz pianist and recording artist. He is known for serving as the bandleader on The Arsenio Hall Show (1989–94).

Polly Carey Draper is an American actress, writer, producer, and director. Draper has received several awards, including a Writers Guild of America Award (WGA), and is noted for speaking in a "trademark throaty voice." She first gained recognition for her role in the ABC primetime television drama Thirtysomething (1987–91).

Writing

Nat Wolff began writing music for the film in late 2004, having already written and recorded "Crazy Car" he had to write very few songs. He wrote "Got No Mojo", "Motormouth", "Hardcore Wrestlers" and "If There Was a Place to Hide".

He gained recognition for composing the music for The Naked Brothers Band (2007–2009), a Nickelodeon television series he starred in with his younger brother Alex that was created by their actress mother Polly Draper. Wolff's jazz pianist father Michael Wolff co-produced the series' soundtrack albums, The Naked Brothers Band (2007) and I Don't Want to Go to School (2008); the former of which ranked the 83rd spot on the Top 100 Billboard Charts.

Recording

Recording began in early 2005, when Nat was just 9 years old. He recorded all of the music he wrote for him, his brother Alex was also able to write a song for the film, That's How It Is. The music was recorded by June 2005, just before filming began on The Naked Brothers Band Movie .

Release

The songs were meant to be released on a soundtrack for the movie, called: The Naked Brothers Band: Music from the Movie in 2006, but due to the project being developed into a television series instead, the soundtrack was unreleased.

The music was instead released on an extra disc that came with the DVD of the movie, that was released on April 3, 2007. The album only included 5 songs from the film, and was only available for a short time.

Charting

Due to the album being released as an extra disc to the film's DVD, it was not eligible to chart. However, the first single from the album "Crazy Car" charted in 2007, it peaked at No. 83 on the Billboard Hot 100. [2]

Due to it being an extra disc on The Naked Brothers Band: The Movie DVD, it was only available for a limited time only, as of 2010 the extra disc is no longer available in the United States.

Voliminal: Inside the Nine is the third video album by American heavy metal band Slipknot. Released December 5, 2006 by Roadrunner Records, the 2-disc DVD set features an 84-minute movie created by band member Shawn "Clown" Crahan. The set also includes live performances, music videos from songs on the band's third studio album, Vol. 3: , and the first unmasked interviews with all of the band members. Throwbacks is the final album recorded by Nat & Alex Wolff under the name "The Naked Brothers Band" and the soundtrack to the third and final season of the show of the same name. Under the working title "Songs of Season 3," due to post-production problems, it was originally cancelled, until it was announced on September 19, 2013 to be released as a Nat & Alex Wolff album instead of a Naked Brothers Band album on October 15, 2013, under the title Throwbacks. One song that was recorded for the intended Season 3 soundtrack, "Face in the Hall", which later appeared in the iCarly soundtrack, will not be in the Throwbacks album.
