Tom O'Reilly is an Irish Republican politician.

O'Reilly first stood as a Sinn Féin candidate for Fermanagh District Council in 1997 and was first elected in 2001. He was re-elected in 2005 and 2011. At the 2003 Northern Ireland Assembly election, he was elected in Fermanagh and South Tyrone, although he chose to stand down at the 2007 election. In 2014 O'Reilly was elected onto the new Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. O'Reilly was chosen by the members of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to be the first Chairperson of the new Council.

The Irish Independence Party (IIP) was a nationalist political party in Northern Ireland, founded in October 1977 by Frank McManus and Fergus McAteer. The party was effectively a merger of Unity and the Nationalist Party, as the bulk of activists and councillors from the two movements joined IIP. However several independent councillors also joined the party. It was boosted in the late 1970s by the defection of a prominent Protestant Larne Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) councillor, John Turnley, later the party chairman, who was killed in 1980 in Carnlough, County Antrim, by an attack claimed by the Ulster Defence Association.

Gerry McHugh British politician

Gerry McHugh is a nationalist politician in Northern Ireland. He represented Sinn Féin on Fermanagh District Council from 1993 to 2007 sat as an independent since then. He was elected to the Northern Ireland Forum in 1996, then to the Northern Ireland Assembly at the 1998 election as a Sinn Féin member for Fermanagh and South Tyrone. He lost his seat in 2003, but regained it in 2007. His fellow Sinn Féin member on both occasions was Michelle Gildernew. McHugh is a past pupil of St Comhghall's Secondary School in Lisnaskea.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is a local authority in Northern Ireland and was established on 1 April 2015. It replaced Fermanagh District Council and Omagh District Council and covers most of the southwest of Northern Ireland. Its first election was on 22 May 2014, and it acted as a shadow authority prior to the creation of the Fermanagh and Omagh district in April 2015.

Militant Left is a Trotskyist political party active in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. After the 2019 split in the Committee for a Workers' International (1974), the group was founded by former members of the Socialist Party who wished to affiliate to the 'refounded' Committee for a Workers' International. Initially known as CWI Ireland, it renamed itself Militant Left in June 2020.
