Twelve Tribes is an album by the American musician Richard Souther, released in 1990 on the Narada Equinox label.

Richard Douglas Trowbridge Souther is an American keyboardist who played on several albums of contemporary Christian and chant-based music. He also placed an album in the Top 10 of Billboard's New Age Albums chart.

Reception

In a contemporaneous review, Jim Aikin described the album as "terrific". He also noted that "Souther's compositional touch is unfaltering", giving specific praise to the "Compañero" track. [1]

Linda Kohanov's review at AllMusic noted a "marked evolution in style" from previous albums, and commented that "Souther's creative use of ethnic rhythms and instruments adds a new level of sophistication to his accessibility". [2]

Abraham Laboriel Mexican musician

Abraham Laboriel Sr. is a Mexican-American bassist who has played on over 4,000 recordings and soundtracks. Guitar Player magazine called him "the most widely used session bassist of our time". Laboriel is the father of drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. and of producer, songwriter, and film composer Mateo Laboriel. He is ranked No. 42 on Bass Player magazine's list of "The 100 Greatest Bass Players of All Time".

Justo Pastor Almario Gómez is a Colombian-born, Los Angeles-based flutist, saxophonist and Latin jazz group leader. He was among several Colombian musicians recruited by Mongo Santamaria for his band in the 1970s, notably on the album, Afro–Indio (1975).

Steve Tavaglione is a woodwind and EWI musician most notable for his work as a co founder of the Latin fusion group Caldera with Jorge Strunz and Eduardo Del Barrio, his work with noted keyboard players Scott Kinsey and John Beasley, and work in the television and film industry.
