The Great West Conference (GWC) was an NCAA college athletic conference in the continental United States. Originally a football-only league, it became an all-sports entity during the 2008–09 season. The GWC stopped sponsoring football following the 2011 season. The conference became defunct when four of the remaining five full member schools became members of other conferences on July 1, 2013.
The Pacific Coast Softball Conference (PCSC) was an NCAA Division I conference that only sponsored women's softball. It was founded in 2002, beginning play in spring 2003, with six members in the Western United States. The PCSC expanded to 12 members for the 2009–10 school year, and maintained that size for three seasons, but major conference realignment first decimated the conference and then led to its demise after the 2013 softball season.
The Utah Valley Wolverines represent Utah Valley University in NCAA DI collegiate athletics and sponsor 16 sporting programs. The Wolverines participate in the Western Athletic Conference. The school mascot is the Wolverine, and the colors are green and white. The UVU student section is called The Den. A name change from The Mawl, the student section's previous name, was enacted in 2017. All UVU students can get their Den pass, which includes free admission to all athletic events.
The Utah Valley Wolverines men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, United States. The team is coached by former assistant coach Todd Phillips. The school's team currently competes in the Western Athletic Conference of NCAA Division I college basketball. Their home games are played in the UCCU Center on the school's Orem, Utah campus. The Wolverines have yet to appear in the NCAA tournament since moving to Division I. The Wolverines joined the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in 2013 as part of the early-2010s NCAA conference realignment.
The 2013–14 Utah Valley Wolverines men's basketball team represented Utah Valley University in the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Dick Hunsaker entered his twelfth season as the UVU head coach. The Wolverines played their home games at the UCCU Center as new members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 20–12, 13–3 in WAC play to win the WAC regular season championship. They advanced to the semifinals of the WAC tournament where they lost to Idaho. As a regular season conference champion who failed to win their conference tournament, they received an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to California.
Eric Madsen is an American baseball coach and former player. He played college baseball at Eastern Utah from 1991 to 1992 before transferring to Southern Utah. He then served as the head coach of the Eastern Utah Golden Eagles (1997–2003) and Utah Valley Wolverines (2009–2021). Madsen took Utah Valley to its first NCAA Regional in 2016 and during his career has amassed a record of 305–357
The 2014 Utah Valley Wolverines softball team represented Utah Valley University in the 2014 NCAA Division I softball season. Nikki Palmer entered the year in her first season as head coach of the Wolverines. The Wolverines entered 2014 as new members of the Western Athletic Conference. The Wolverines were picked to finish third in the 2014 WAC standings. After finishing fifth out of six in the WAC Regular season, the Wolverines shocked everyone going 4-0 in the WAC Tournament to earn the conferences automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Wolverines claimed the title of the 64-seed and opened competition in the Eugene region against top seed Oregon. After going 0-2 in the Eugene Regional, the Wolverines ended the season 18-42.

Dick Hunsaker was in his thirteenth season as the UVU head coach. The Wolverines played their home games at the UCCU Center as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 11–19, 5–9 in WAC play to finish in sixth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament to Cal State Bakersfield.

The Cougars played their home games at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah. They finished the season 24–8, 13–3 in WCC play to finish in second place. They lost in the semifinals of the WCC tournament to Saint Mary's. Despite being a virtual lock to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, all postseason play was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022–23 Utah Valley Wolverines men's basketball team represented Utah Valley University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wolverines, led by fourth-year head coach Mark Madsen, played their home games at the UCCU Center in Orem, Utah, and competed as members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). They finished with an overall record of 24–7, 15–3 in WAC play, to finish in first place. In the 2023 WAC tournament, they defeated Tarleton in the quarterfinals before losing to Southern Utah in the semifinals the following day. As the conference leader who didn't win their tournament, they were offered an automatic bid to play in the NIT. They defeated New Mexico, Colorado, and Cincinnati to reach the semifinal round, where they finally fell to UAB in overtime, 86–88. With a final record of 28–9, the 2022–23 season marked the Wolverine's most successful season to date as a D-I program.
The UCCU Crosstown Clash is a collegiate sports rivalry between Brigham Young University (BYU) and Utah Valley University (UVU) sponsored by Utah Community Credit Union (UCCU). The two universities are both situated on University Parkway in Orem and Provo, Utah and are located only 3.4 miles apart. While UVU is currently a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), and BYU was in the past a member of the WAC, the series has always been a non-conference game. This is because UVU joined the WAC in 2013 and BYU left the WAC for the Mountain West Conference in 1999.
