Vance and Pepe's Porn Start is a comedic mockumentary directed by and starring Mark Kenneth Woods, and co-starring Michael Venus, Ryan Steele, and Rachelle Lachland. It had its debut at the Out On Screen Vancouver Queer Film Festival in August 2011. [1] The DVD was released January 17, 2012 through MKW Productions and had its television broadcast debut on July 29, 2012 on OUTtv in Canada.

Synopsis

In this mockumentary, Vance (Michael Venus) and Pepe (Mark Kenneth Woods), two hosts of a renowned reality makeover series, find out their show has been cancelled. Desperate for work, they anxiously devise a plan to use their fame to find new careers in the porn industry. Sensing a train wreck is near, a documentary crew follow the 'famous' reality TV duo as they try to create a film based on 'Showgirls' and 'Twilight' but find out that making it big in porn is a long and hard process.

Critical reception

The film received mixed reviews with Robert O'Neil of TLA Video praising the actors' performances as being in "complete commitment to their bizarre roles – especially Mark Kenneth Woods and Michael Venus, who would seem right at home on Saturday Night Live ". [2]

The Face of Furry Creek is a television series produced by MKW Productions that stars writer/comedian Mark Kenneth Woods, actors Michael Venus, Amy Goodmurphy and Ryan Steele as multiple characters competing in a small mountain town reality-show type contest. It was created by Woods and the series premiered on OUTtv on June 3, 2013 in the network's coveted Monday night 9pm time slot previously held by Season 5 of RuPaul's Drag Race.

The Ryan and Amy Show is a Vancouver-based Canadian sketch comedy duo composed of Ryan Steele and Amy Goodmurphy. They have toured Canada and the United States including doing Sketch Fest in Montreal and Vancouver as well as Just For Laughs. The group produces sketch comedy shorts that are distributed via YouTube and on their website, but have appeared on other sites as well such as Funny or Die. Goodmurphy and Steele have starred together in many television shows including the YTV show The Funny Pit with Roman Danylo, The Face of Furry Creek, CBC's The Pitch, and Out For Laughs. Shine Louise Houston is a filmmaker and the founding director and producer of Pink and White Productions, an independent production company creating queer pornography in San Francisco. Desiree Lim is a Malaysian-born Canadian independent film director, producer, and screenwriter. She is known for her films Sugar Sweet (2001), Floored by Love (2005), and The House (2011). The Queer North Film Festival is an annual film festival in Sudbury, Ontario, which presents an annual program of LGBT film. Presented by the Sudbury Indie Cinema Coop, the festival was staged for the first time in 2016. The same organization also stages the city's Junction North International Documentary Film Festival.
