The Xi'an Olympic Sports Center is a sports complex with a multi-purpose stadium, a gymnasium and an aquatics center in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. [1]
The building opened in October 2020. [1] The Xi'an Olympic Sports Center was the venue for the athletics and aquatics competitions of the 2021 National Games of China, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies. [2]
Xi'an, alternatively romanized as Xian, Hsi-an, or Sian, is the capital of Shaanxi Province. The 14th National Games of China (中华人民共和国第十四届运动会), commonly known as Shaanxi 2021 (陕西2021), was a multi-sports event held throughout Shaanxi from September 15 to 27, 2021. It is projected that the Games will attract around 20,000 athletes who will compete in 409 events in 35 sports. This will be the first event in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
