Atrium (styled as ATRiuM), officially ATRiuM: Cardiff Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries and also known as ATRiuM Building, forms part of the Cardiff campus of the University of South Wales, along with Atlantic House in Tyndall Street. It is located in the Adamsdown area of Cardiff city centre, Wales. The building was first opened as a university building by the University of Glamorgan on 29 November 2007. A new extension (ATRiuM 2A) added in September 2014 and second (ATRiuM 2B) in 2016.
Opened on 29 November 2007, [1] it is home to one of the university's five faculties, CCI (the Cardiff School of Creative & Cultural Industries). The building is located on 86-88 Adam Street, near Cardiff Queen Street railway station.
The building comprises a refurbished former BT office block, Enterprise House, and an extension, linked by a glass atrium. It houses many of the facilities which were formerly based at the campus in Trefforest. These include a television studio, two tiered theatre, auditoriums, sound studios, learning resource centre and gallery.
ATRiuM's official launch was compered by actress Siân Phillips and TV presenter Rhodri Owen and there were performances from harpist Catrin Finch and singers Elin Manahan Thomas and Daisy Blue, who was accompanied on the piano by her father Mal Pope. [2]
A temporary Students Union building was located at the rear of the building which opened in September 2009 until it moved to ATRiuM 2A, which opened in September 2014.
ATRiuM has expanded on the western side of the original structure (phase 1) on un-used land on the eastern side and the site of an old garage on the western side. The new two storey ATRiuM 2A includes part of the South Wales Business School, as well as a Students Union bar and an 'Ideas factory'. It opened for the new term in September 2014. Amongst the key ATRiuM facilities are a design studio, television studio, 180-seat theatre space, cinema, 180 seat main lecture theatre, a cafe and advice shops. [5]
In July 2010, it was filmed for The Sarah Jane Adventures' fifth series episode The Man Who Never Was (the final episode filmed before Elisabeth Sladen's death in 2011). [6]

The University of Glamorgan was a university based in South Wales prior to the merger with University of Wales, Newport, that formed the University of South Wales in April 2013. The university was based in Pontypridd, in Rhondda Cynon Taf, with campuses in Trefforest, Glyntaff, Merthyr Tydfil, Tyn y Wern and Cardiff. The university had four faculties, and was the only university in Wales which had no link with the University of Wales.

The union was an affiliate of National Union of Students of the United Kingdom and part of NUS Wales. It offered representation, support and services to all the students of the University.
West Thames College is a medium-sized college of further and higher education in West London, England. It was formed in 1976, originally named Hounslow Borough College, having gained its current name in 1993. The Cardiff Centenary Walk is a tourist walkway through Cardiff city centre in Wales. Established as part of Cardiff's centennial celebrations to mark 100 years of city status in 2005, it has 41 points of interest, either Cardiff landmarks or significant historic sites. The route is marked by waymarkers on the pavement, which also direct pedestrians to the next waymarker. The whole walk is 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long running around Cardiff in a clockwise direction, starting and finishing at the Cardiff Visitor Centre at the Old Library.
City of Westminster College is a further education college in the City of Westminster, England, founded originally as Paddington Technical Institute in 1904 and gaining its current name in 1990. The college has two centres in central London, located in Paddington and Maida Vale. It also includes the Cockpit Theatre, a fully operational studio theatre used for training and performances, and a range of outreach centres. The Vulcan Hotel is a historic hotel and public house, that was located in Adamsdown suburb of Cardiff, South Wales. Scheduled for demolition in 2009, after a long public campaign to preserve what had become one of Cardiff's oldest working public houses, in 2012 it was donated to the National History Museum at St Fagans, where it is being reconstructed.
Coleg y Cymoedd is a further education college located at four main campuses across Rhondda Cynon Taf, and Caerphilly, Wales. Coleg y Cymoedd was formed after the merger of Coleg Morgannwg and Ystrad Mynach College in September 2013.
The Garthdee campus is the Robert Gordon University's main campus, where all academic departments are located and teaching and research takes place.
