Judith Nalule Nabakooba is a Ugandan politician and former policewoman. She is currently the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, in the Cabinet of Uganda. She was appointed to that position on 8 June 2021.^[1]

Education

Nabakooba attended Ndejje Secondary School, in Luweero District, for her middle school and high school education, where she obtained both the Uganda Certificate of Education in 1994, and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education in 1997. She was admitted to Makerere University, Uganda's largest and oldest public university, graduating with a Bachelor of Mass Communication degree in 2002. Later, she was awarded a Master's degree in Human Rights, also from Makerere University.^[4]

She also holds a Diploma in Strategic Leadership Management, from Chartered Management Institute, in the United Kingdom, obtained in 2010. In addition, she holds two other diplomas, one a Postgraduate Diploma in Management and the other a Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation, both awarded by Uganda Management Institute, in 2012 and 2013 respectively.^[4]

Career

From 2004 until 2015, Nabakooba served in the Uganda Police Force, where she held various positions, including as the spokesperson for the Police Force, from 2011 until 2015. Other responsibilities during that period, included as Secretary to Exodus Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited, the savings and credit co-operative society of Uganda Police (UP) personnel and their families. She left the UP for active politics in June 2015.^[4]^[5]

In the 2016 general elections, Nabakooba was elected as Mityana District Woman Representative on the ruling National Resistance Movement political party ticket. During her tenure, she has faced criticism and threats over her position regarding the parliamentary Age-Limit Bill^[6] She has also faced criticism over the delayed Kasese Report.^[7]

In a cabinet reshuffle on 14 December 2019, Nabakooba was appointed Minister of Information, ICT and Communication, replacing Frank Tumwebaze, who was appointed Minister of Labour, Gender, Youth Services and Social Development.^[2]^[3]^[8]

Other considerations

Woman MP. Currently she chairs the Uganda parliamentary committee on defense and internal affairs and is a member of both the parliamentary business committee and the parliamentary committee on commissions, state authorities and state enterprises. She belongs to the ruling National Resistance Movement.^[4]

Frederick Douglas Mwanja Mukisa was a Ugandan educator and politician. He served as the State Minister for Fisheries in the Ugandan Cabinet, from 1 June 2006 until 27 May 2011. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, he was dropped from the cabinet and replaced by Ruth Nankabirwa. He also served in the elected Ugandan Parliament, representing "Bukooli County Central", Bugiri District, from 2006 until 2011. During the 2011 national election cycle, he lost to Hajji Siraji Lyavala during the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries, who in turn lost to Wafula Oguttu of the Forum for Democratic Change, in the general election. In March 2015, Siraji Lyavala was elected Chairman (LC-5) of Bugiri District.

Peter Aimat Lokeris is a Ugandan politician and accountant. He is the current Minister of State for Minerals in the Cabinet of Uganda. He was appointed to this position on 16 February 2009. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, and that of 1 March 2015, Peter Lokeris retained his cabinet post. He is also the elected Member of Parliament representing Chekwii County in Nakapiripirit District. He has continuously represented that constituency since 1996.

Ephraim Kamuntu is a Ugandan management scientist and politician. He is the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs in the Cabinet of Uganda. He was appointed to that position on 14 December 2019. Previously he served as Minister of Water and Environment from August 2012 to June 2016. He is also an ex-officio Member of the Parliament of Uganda because of his Cabinet position.

Jessica Rose Epel Alupo, commonly known as Jessica Alupo, is the ninth and current vice president of Uganda since 2021. She is a Ugandan politician, educator, and former military officer. She previously served in the cabinet of Uganda as minister of education between 2011 and 2016. She is also an elected member of parliament as Katakwi District's women's representative.

Vincent Makumbi Nyanzi is a Ugandan educator and politician. He is the current State Minister in the Office of the Vice President in the Uganda's Cabinet. He was appointed to this position on 27 May 2011. He replaced James Baba, who was appointed State Minister for Internal Affairs. Prior to that, from 16 February 2009 until 27 May 2011, he served as State Minister for Economic Planning in the Office of the President. He is also the elected Member of Parliament representing "Busujju County", Mityana District.

Beatrice Atim Anywar, also Betty Anywar,, is a Ugandan politician who serves as the Member of Parliament representing the Kitgum Municipality Constituency in the 10th Ugandan Parliament. Effective 14 December 2019, she concurrently serves as the State Minister for the Environment, in the Ugandan Cabinet. Betty Amongi Akena,, but commonly known as Betty Amongi, is a Ugandan politician. She is the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development in the Cabinet of Uganda, as of 9 June 2021. Previously, she served as the Cabinet Minister of Kampala Capital City and before that, from 6 June 2016 until 14 December 2019, she served as the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development in Uganda's cabinet. She is also the incumbent member of parliament representing the Oyam South Constituency in the 11th Parliament.

Mary Goretti Kitutu, also Mary Goretti Kitutu Kimono is a Ugandan academic, politician and environmentalist. She was appointed Minister for Karamoja Affairs on 8 June 2021, replacing John Byabagambi. She was the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, in the Ugandan Cabinet, from 14 December 2019 to 8 June 2021. Before that, from 10 June 2016, until 14 December 2019, she served as the State Minister for the Environment in the Cabinet of Uganda. Dr Mary Kitutu concurrently serves as the elected Manafwa District Women's Representative, in the 10th Parliament.

Godfrey Ssuubi Kiwanda is a Ugandan politician. He was the State Minister for Tourism in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. He concurrently serves as the elected representative of Mityana County North, Mityana District in the 10th Ugandan Parliament (2016–2021).

The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance is a cabinet ministry of Uganda. The ministry is headed by Chris Baryomunsi.

Molly Nawe Kamukama, commonly known as Molly Kamukama, is a Ugandan politician and management professional, who served as the State Minister for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President, in the Cabinet of Uganda from 14 December 2019 to June 2021 when she was replaced by Peter Ogwang.

Robinah Nabbanja is a Ugandan educator and politician who serves as the Prime Minister of Uganda, having been nominated to the office on 8 June 2021. She was formally confirmed by the Parliament on 21 June 2021. She replaced Ruhakana Rugunda, who was named to the post of Envoy For Special Duties In The Office Of The President of Uganda. She is the first female prime minister of Uganda.

Peter Ogwang is a Ugandan politician. He is the current Minister of State for Sports in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 22 July 2022, replacing Denis Obua. Previously, he was the State Minister for Economic Monitoring and had earlier served as the State Minister for Information, Communication, ICT and National Guidance. He is also the elected Member of Parliament for Usuk County in Katakwi District, in the 10th Parliament (2016-2021).
